Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi , has closed the World Cup door on Ikechukwu Uche, saying he lacks tactical discipline.
Uche is one of Nigeria’s reliable goal scorers and has scored 12 goals this season for Villarreal, MTNFootball.com reports.
On Monday night, the striker returned to action after he was sidelined by injury for two weeks.
He last featured for Nigeria in the final of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations against Burkina Faso.
Keshi speaking to MTNFootball.com from his base in the United States said, “Ikechukwu Uche is not a player I have not seen play. Ike Uche problem is not knowing how to play football.
“His problem is that he wants to dictate how we play in Super Eagles, he wants to tell us the system we’re playing is not good.
“Uche has a very bad habit, that if you put him in the game he is not playing to instructions and he did that in the final of AFCON against Burkina Faso, he almost cost us.
“Again he did that against Zambia, in the second match when (Efe) Ambrose was given a red card. What we told him to do, he was doing the opposite.”
Keshi added:”And if you don’t respect your team mates and you don’t respect the team, then there is no point. I know he cannot do that in his club, then why do it in the national team?

No man is an embodiment of knowledge. As a coach, don't think you are all-knowing or that your own decision must always be right. Try to welcome ideas from these players and not just rubbish them. You don't necessarily have to follow the ideas. But make them feel a sense of belonging. All the best!

Keshi...u re such a big liar...who says Ike uche is disrespectful? Keshi...y not come out straight nd say wat u have against this humble young man. u've been making silly remrks against this ike uche and he has remained calm...perhaps because u knw his humility and respect for people won't allow him say anything. Can u (Keshi) try this wit likes of Osaze etc...certainly u'll get a response the next day! How come his disobedience is only coming out under you alone? Keshi we knw yu re trying to hide or cover up something..! Did you ever ask how ur team qualified for the Nations Cup...did yu try to find out how supportive he was? Keshi, u earned respect cos of the Nations cup victory, be careful...so as not to lose it!!! For ur information Keshi, Ike uche's fans/ supporters will never lose sleep bcos of ur silly utterances!!!

ReplyDeleteWell, a coach should be manager of of people otherwise he will run into problems because you cannot get the bestout of human only by coercion or force all the time. He may be surprise that some of those he believe that are respectful may only be fearing him which is not god for self expresion in a game of football and such people may never be their best in the team. This is why some players perform so well with one manager but so badly with another. For example Adebayor of Tottenham under their former coach. Pls, Keshi you better change your attitude for the good of the team. Similar thing happen to Romario of Brasil some time ago and today the rest is history
