Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar said on Tuesday that he broke down in tears when he was informed of the killings of dozens of pupils of Federal Government College, Buni Yadi, Gujiba Local Government Area of Yobe State.
The former Vice President who is also Grand Patron of Federal Government College Okigwe Old Students Association said in a strongly-worded statement by his media office in Abuja that all the Federal Government had been doing about addressing the security situation in the North-East region of the country amounts to mere chasing of shadows if school walls cannot be protected from armed attacks.
The former Vice President particularly frowned at the impression given by President Goodluck Jonathan at his Presidential Media Chat on Monday that the government has been successful at pushing armed attacks to the fringes of the country.
“My heartfelt condolences go to families of the slain school pupils. It is unfortunate that innocent school children, will become victims of armed attacks.
According to him, “This will not be the first time in recent times that school children are being attacked, and it is particularly disheartening that the Federal Government is yet to devise a strategy of keeping our schools safe from terror attacks.
“If our counter-insurgency strategies are not strong enough to keep our children safe inside their schools, then one must wonder if such a strategy isn’t mere chasing shadows.
“It is important that the Federal Government ups its counter-insurgency strategy and desist from taking credits in pushing armed attacks to the fringes, as the president would like to put it. No Nigerian’s life is less in value to another.”
He said it was imperative for government to ensure security in schools, in particular the Federal Government Colleges because of their unique role in forging national unity among pupils from diverse backgrounds in the country. ReplyDeleteAtiku have a moment and self reflect. What have you done to help this nation.
ReplyDeleteSo sad, human lives are wasted and yet some people still have time to make irrational comments. Those that have created this dichotomy are happy because Nigerians now only think along religious and ethnic divides, politicians have successfully uised primodialism in their favour by making those with short sight and daft brains to think otherwise. So help us God.

ReplyDeleteall of una hate atiku sha ohh, so that means u guys will never vote for him in presidential election? APC take note oh, don't bother to present atiku.
ReplyDeleteIf APC present him...........they have lost already.
DeleteIn all his(Atiku) comments and tears, did he condemn Boko haram?....He is only condemning Government of Jonathan... U see what we are talking about now?
He should tell the Govt, how they can stop the insurgents and stop blaming Govt.....Mtchwwwwwww
Atiku tear is a political weeping. He want people to say things have turn sour under the Govt of GEJ so he can be voted in. As far as Nigeria is concern, they know your intention and other northern leader. I would have love BH to descend on politicians,Emirs, and wealthy Northerners. Then come south BH issues would have be solved by now. The issues of BH should nt be left in the hand of Govt alone, traditional rules, Immans, and influential people and politician should be full involved. But the North want the menace to continue, so Nigerian can condemn the present Govt and vote one of them in as President, after then they will now intervene. The BH sponsorers are being to empower them more now that the 2015 election is on the way. the are bumping more money to the deadly menace so they can strike every week and Nigerian will begin to complain and blaming GEJ. APC leaders said we need Northerner leaders that have money - people like Atiku, etc. Tinubu told Bafara to go and queue behind Kwasaso because he dont have money as formal Gov. compared to the Incumbent. Continue strike of BH now is an APC political strategies.
ReplyDeleteGod will punish all of you. You were a vice president of the country at a time and you seem to be influential to an extent. Why can't you help out rather than shed tears. God will judge all of us. And you are busy nursing a presidential ambition. What would you do differently if you cannot be helpful now in your own little way. Selfish people.
