MINISTER of the Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, Senator Bala Mohammed has lost his senior brother, Mallam Y.M. Baba.
In a statement by the Chief of Staff to the FCT minister, Mallam Mohammed Ya’u Gital, Baba who died yesterday, was the District Head of Duguri, Bauchi State.
The statement read, “The District Head of Duguri, Bauchi State, Mallam Y. M. Baba is dead. He died today (Friday February 7, 2014) at the age of 80. Mallam Baba, an elder brother of the Minister of FCT, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, was a former Secretary to the Bauchi State Government (SSG).
”A veteran teacher and bureaucrat, Mallam Yusuf Mohammed Baba during his rich public service career, he taught or served as Principal of many notable colleges such as Government Secondary Schools in Azare, Bauchi State, Funtua in Katsina State, Yarwa, Maiduguri in Borno State, Potiskum in Yobe State and many others.
”A consummate teacher, Mallam Y. M. Baba taught many prominent citizens. A Bsc Mathematics degree holder (1965) from the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, the late Y.M. Baba was not just a teacher but a renowned educational planner. He was also the pioneer Registrar of Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi.
