Boko Haram: APC urges Jonathan to visit Yobe

The All Progressives Congress, APC, has unreservedly condemned Monday night’s horrific attack on the Federal Government College in Yobe State, in which over 40 students were reported to have been brutally murdered by blood-thirsty insurgents.

In a statement, Wednesday, by its Interim National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party said the attacks, which were extremely gory even by the scorched-earth tactics of the terrorists, plumbs the depth of horror.

”What a sad day for Nigeria and indeed for all of humanity, when innocent school children were used as soft targets by a group of cowardly terrorists, who have shed their toga of humanity on the altar of a meaningless ideology.

”We condole with the families of the victims as well as the government and people of Yobe State over this abominable crime. We urge the state and federal government to work together to ensure that schools in the state are adequately protected,” it said.

APC called on President Goodluck Jonathan to immediately visit the state to offer succour to the families of the victims and the state government, saying that is the least the Federal Government can do to help soothe the pains of those involved.

The party said the President should also use the opportunity to pay a visit to Borno, which has been reeling under ceaseless and deadly attacks from the terrorists, as well as to the brave and patriotic soldiers who have been putting their all into the battle against these insurgents.

”A visit from Mr. President will be a morale booster for our troops in battle, and will also show the beleaguered people of the affected states that they have not been abandoned to their cruel fate by the federal government as well as their compatriots,” it said.

  1. Your hidden agenda has failed. Jonathan can send his condolence from a remote location. You people are looking for opportunity to kill the president. Even the army has Boko haram informets

  3. Let us put sentiment, political ideology and background aside, must the Federal Government of Nigeria be told to go to Yobe to see things for himself?

We are talking about Secondary school children for God sake. A yoruba adage says "Iku to ba n pa ojugba eni, owe nla ni" this boko haram have shown to us that they careless about anyone even if you are kid.

Jonathan should with immediate effect visit those children in the hospital with injury and those who lost their lives and not seating down there pursuing national conference, and not sending condolence messages.

  5. Who wants to kill d president? Why do we reason such? When disasters of this nature happens, the norm is for the president to pay a courtesy visit to the affected area! Fine this is a terror issue or a terror prone area, so we would understand why the president chose nt to visit but pls stop all this selfish comments it doesn't portray us as a good thinking beings, if u don't know NE is read far and beyond the shores of this country. Tell me when senate or reps mandated the army chief to move his office to Borno, is it a plan to kill him? Or is GEJ a better man than him? Or is the president better than those pple that were killed by BH? NO! Its to enable the Army chief to step up on the fight against the insurgents, what do u want the army boss family to say? That Nigerians want to kill their bread winner?NO, they know that is what he's has sworn to do and same for GEJ too, so pls let's be focused here!!

    1. Please lets think with our brain and not our anus. Where has ever been heard or read that it's senate or national assembly that will remaind president to go nd visit or send condolences to victims of terror attack. The president does so at his own will. Publising this alone has already endangered the life of our presido.
