Atiku cannot be godfather to APC - Oshiomhole

Gov. Adam Oshiomhole of Edo on Monday said that Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, a former Vice President, could not be a godfather to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Oshiomhole made this known when he spoke with newsmen after paying a solidarity visit to APC secretariat in Asaba.

He said that it was not possible for Atiku to become godfather to a party he did not form, adding that “Atiku came to join what already existed, so he cannot be a father to APC.

“But what you should talk about Atiku joining APC is the fact that such an eminent Nigerian, one time vice president of a ruling party can find comfort in leaving the party to join the alternative platform.

“I think that is the big story. You should find out how those he left behind feel and what that amounts to,” Oshiomhole said.

The governor also said that the worries were that of the political party he left to join the APC.

On the election time table, he said that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had some explanation to make on why it decided to climb “a tree from the top rather than from the bottom’’.

He noted that several elections had been conducted in the country and the presidential election had never come first until now.

Oshiomhole said that if INEC failed in the presidential elections all other elections would equally fail.

He said that it would have been proper for INEC to do some test running with smaller units first and learn lessons and improve on the method before the presidential which he called the big one.

Oshiomhole said that he was in Delta to meet with the interim leadership of the party to discuss issues affecting the party, its formation and the forthcoming registration exercise and encourage them.

He said that what distinguished APC from other political party was that it was founded on the principle of popular participation that was all-inclusive rather than politics of exclusion.

He said that the party might be new, but the leaders were not new to partisan politics.

The governor said that APC leaders were working hard to entrench it not only in the hearts of party members but actually in the heart of all the people of Delta. (NAN)

  6. All these just to unseat GEJ. I think Nigerian are not being fair to our president. There is nothing wrong to critisize or even defect to another party but the issue here is the motive behind all these. Well only time will tell and remember that Nigerians are watching and listening.

  7. Atiku is a an established political prostitue after the lesson(s) Baba Iyabo taught him. No direction! Now they are just collaborating to see GEJ out of Aso Rock, even at he cost of their political reputation. But, I am sure he is aware that that Baba in Otta is also a big guest or member-in-waiting for the Armoured Personnel Carrier (which is saying through Buhari that they will end the BH they are accused of funding, when they upset GEJ). So let Atiku be prepared for another round with the Otta Farmer. Baba has finished Atiku's political career without him knowing. This time he will flee to his hearthrob, PDM in waiting. Goodluck to Atiku.

  11. Yes, good to go through the last two comments. Elections were conducted before now and we’ve seen the lapses therefore, those gaps are expected to be closed but not for INEC to connive with PDP on how the elections should be conducted or how to make the time table or schedules.

Naturally, it is absurd and unthinkable seeing someone climbing tree from the top rather than from down to top. INEC are magicians since it is only magicians that can climb trees from up to down.

No one is trying to unseat GEJ but the fact is, the Nigerians that overwhelmingly voted for GEJ in the last election are disappointed and fed up with his self propounded style of democracy even the PDP members don't want him however, from all indications we can see that he is forcing himself on Nigerians.

Nigeria as a nation is endowed with a lot of competent persons therefore, if we can’t achieve our aims through GEJ please let's give another person a trial; GEJ is unfit for the job for crying out loud.

If the problem is Niger Delta issue good to note that the people of Niger Delta know that the man not be am; please give the power to Oshiomole or Donald Duke, Chris Okotie, Amechi, Prof Pat ikimi, another Tom ikimi and host of them as a fellow Niger Dentist even, they like let them remain there forever but not to be led by blind.

  13. It's high time we respect our President. God placed him there allow him to lead Nigerians. most of you condemning him cannot take proper care of their families or their Kindred. What is Atiku and Buhari looking for in Aso Rock if not to take their own share of the National Cake. People are there sponsoring the Boko Haram wasting inocent lives, just to make sure he did not achieve anything in Government. When Yar a'dua was there how many of these people complained.
