PDP plotting religious disharmony among Nigerians - Buhari

A former Head of State, Maj-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari( retd.), has decried the attempt by the Peoples Democratic Party to “demonise” the leaders of the All Progressives Congress as religious bigots.

The former Head of State noted that it was unpatriotic , evil and beyond acceptable political rhetoric for the PDP to foment religious disharmony among Nigerians.

While stressing that the APC never looked at Nigerians as Christians or Muslims, Buhari, who was also presidential candidate for the defunct Congress for Progressive Change, urged Nigerians to maintain strict vigilance against any attempt to subvert the peace and unity of the country.

He added that no matter the antics of the ruling party, “the PDP’s death-knell has sounded, and it will end, just as it began, in tragedy.”

The former military leader wrote on his Facebook wall, “The attempt by the PDP to foment religious disharmony among Nigerians is unpatriotic, evil and beyond acceptable political rhetoric.

“We in the APC never look at Nigerians as Christians or Muslims, southerners or northerners; because, the bad leadership we fight against, the corruption we strongly oppose, and the widespread poverty we painfully lament affect all Nigerians, irrespective of tribe, religion or geography.

“The fact that a ruling party can resort to acting in ways detrimental to national security portrays a party on its last gasp of political relevance and ever willing to plunge Nigeria into sectarian chaos in order to conceal its crimes within the debris of a nation-wide anarchy.

“No matter how it tries, the PDP’s death-knell has sounded, and it will end, just as it began – in tragedy.

“We call on all Nigerian men and women to rise against this malicious misrepresentation and maintain strict vigilance against any attempt to subvert the peace and unity of this country.”

  10. Sir with due respect to you as one time President, this is Democracy game of the Majority. If thea majority of Nigerians gives the mandate to APC fine and if they give it to PDP we should all accept it in good faith. Besides, its the old PDP members that are spearheading the APC so how do you intend to bring the change? If an APC controlled state conduct a Local Government Election you will discovered that all the positions will be won by APC likewise PDP controlled states. So, who are we deceiving? We should judge our concious and tell Nigerians the TRUTH.

  11. I just want to say the corruption, poverty, insecurity and all the issues you claim you will solve did not start in GEJ's time. For God's sake all you people should go and rest and let the youth take over. You keep saying we are the leaders of tomorrow but a 70year old man will still be in d office and not want to retire while a 30-40 year old young man and woman will be at home looking for a means to survive. Enough is enough u old people.
God will elect for us come 2015 not matter all this your campaign and all.
