On the 18th of December 2013 several newspapers carried the statement from the All Progressive Congress, APC. While the different papers gave their own slant to the story, I particularly liked the headline from a major newspaper which said "Jonathan Must Respond to Obasanjo - APC". Continue...
Now, imagine my surprise that after President Goodluck Jonathan did exactly what the APC recommended, they changed their tune and on the 26th of December 2013 the headline changed to "APC berates Jonathan’s response to Obasanjo’s letter".
The story in fact was more telling with the
Vanguard Newspapers writing that "The All Progressives Congress (APC)
says the presidency has been greatly diminished by its decision to throw
decorum to the wind and engage former President Olusegun Obasanjo".
With
the above, it should now be obvious to objective citizen that the APC
stands for nothing and is only against anything President Goodluck
Jonathan does.
For instance, Senator Bola
Tinubu had been one of the most vociferous champions for the convocation
of a National Conference. He had championed this cause for years and
many had come to think of the idea as his pet project.
At
the first Anthony Enahoro Memorial Lecture in Benin City, Edo State
which held on the 24th of November 2011, Bola Tinubu had said “I submit
to you today that because of the multiple issues surrounding our skewed
federalism and constitutional flaws, the Nigerian nation is weak...The
21-member Presidential Committee on the Review of Outstanding
Constitutional Issues (PCROCI) recently set up by President Goodluck
Jonathan falls short. It is a
backdoor approach to the issue of national conference. In memory of
Chief Enahoro we must convoke a national conference.”
And
when on October 1st 2013, President Jonathan listened to the cries of
Nigerians and decided to convoke the very National Conference that Bola
Tinubu advocated, the Asiwaju made a characteristic 360 degree turn and
went on attack mode saying on October 6th 2013 “The national
conference is by whom, for whom, and at what stage? How many levels of
deception? I see a contradiction. I see diversion. I see deception, lack
of honesty and integrity.”
If you think this is a case of multiple personality syndrome, you may have a point.
On
the 25th of March 2013 after a birthday party that was reported in the
media to have cost 1 billion Naira, Bola Tinubu gave an interview to The
Sun Newspaper and said "There are so many news items that are seriously
more newsworthy than to be looking for Obasanjo’s congratulatory
messages in the newspaper. A man who had great opportunity to put
Nigeria on the right path and failed to do so; failed to do even the
Otta road, not Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. What am I celebrating about him?
That’s the truth. He deceptively dealt with the country and he handed
over to a man who knew he was ill. Obasanjo is a leader that could not
find another successor capable of driving through his vision for the
country”.
Imagine my surprise when nine months
later on December the 22nd of 2013 the same Bola Tinubu was at former
President Obasanjo's residence at Ota and told the same man whom he had
hitherto said "had great opportunity to put Nigeria on the right path
and failed to do so" that "We’re resolved and determined to rescue
Nigeria. We want you as navigator”.
How can these two statements be reconciled?
It
is glaring to objective minds that the APC is a party without ideology,
and a vision for Nigeria cobbled together by people without scruples
who would be willing to work with anybody no matter how odious as long
as that person has a grudge against President Goodluck Jonathan.
This
is why they cannot argue with facts and figures against President
Jonathan and must therefore conjure up lies, innuendo and propaganda.
The
APC's attention is focused on the short term goal of securing political
power by whatever means necessary. They have no long term focus of
transforming the lives of Nigerians. Who has been to an APC rally, or
heard an APC chief or chieftain being interviewed and heard them talk
about their plans for the transformation of Nigeria?
Over
the past year, as if choreographed, APC leaders have talked about 2015
in terms of doom, soaking people in blood, civil war, destruction and
such militant language. Politicians ought to think in terms of welfare
for the people not warfare for them. Talks of blood/war in 2015 are a
result of poverty of vision. They have no vision so they feel must use
scare tactics.
What makes these yesterday's
men bitter enough to call for blood and gore? I posit that it is the
misuse of the opportunities God gave them and the refusal to accept that
it has shifted to others.
While the President stays on point talking about his vision for the future, their focus is on insulting and disparaging him. A
persuasive leader is not weak and a coercive leader is not strong.
Anyone can compel obedience by force but only the strong get it by non
violent persuasion.
I often encounter
people on Social Media telling me that the President and his team do not
fight fire with fire and insults with insults. Insults are available to
everyone but they are overlooked by those who want to rise but embraced
by those who want to pull the risers down.
The
Jonathan presidency is run on ideas because at the helm is a PhD leader
who has voiced out severally that he believes in transforming lives
rather than conforming to the status quo. Ideas are the building blocks
of the Transformation Agenda. Ideas lead to cooperation thus expanding
our sense of what is possible. Insults leads to isolation thus limiting
our sense of what's possible. This is the basic difference between
President Jonathan and the current opposition.
They
have called the President a "clueless" leader who is running a
"kindergarten presidency", but do the facts support what they claim.
The
major leaders of the coalition of the desperate otherwise known as the
APC have at one time or the other governed the whole of Nigeria
or a major part of it, so they should be able to compare their record
side by side the president and establish by such facts whether or not
their claims of a clueless leader has any basis in fact.
Since
they cannot do it, I will help them by bringing out facts about the
Jonathan administration vis a vis what existed before this
administration came to power.

ReplyDeleteBy the time APC take over this country all of us we no stuff they are made of but for me and my family i will rather vote for the devil i no bf? Is a proverb
ReplyDeleteNa lie. The correct expression is better is the angel you know than the one you don't! How can you vote a devil? If is a devil noting good can come out of it
DeleteAPC has no vision a year to go no plan no strtegies no ward meetings no credible leader all they known for is propergander
ReplyDeleteAPC(All PAST CRIMINAL PARTY)Looser for 2015 general election
ReplyDeleteNice one Reno, a lot of us are aware of these fact. We also know that the likes of Tinubu and his cohorts and never achieve such results in their life time.
ReplyDeleteMaybe God give those that are planning to make this country ungovernable sleepless nights and may he open the wisdom of their followers so they will be able to see their wrongdoings.
Finally, I think Obasanjo should respect his age and be thinking of joining his ancestors a responsible man, instead of exposing his gullibility and failures to the world.
Long live GEJ, Long live Nigeria
Dts d problem,we talk of economic growth which is only papable in d immagination of dis govt and ur likes, when in other climes they match stat with reality
ReplyDeleteThey Can Only Deceive Those Who Do Not Know Their Right From Their Left,,, Such People Are Mostly Found In Core-North,,,, Where In My Time As Core Member We Have to Beg Them To Come to School...
ReplyDeleteThis Are Tested And Failed Criminals,,, They Are Too Outdated To Deceive Us...GEJ Is Better..
This fucker in the name of Emex, you think you know something? You are even saying you 'beg them to come to school'. Wondering if you are any better because it seems you too need to go to school. Mumu.... So you were 'CORE member'? Right? Like seriously?? Illiterate bastard. We are much aware of your staunch hatred for the North. It won't take you anywhere. Hope you realise that soon you cunt!
DeleteAll figures but the quality of lives keep going down
ReplyDeleteThank u Reno, u have done noble by further exposing these bunch of criminals who have failed Nigeria at one point or the other. Let the facts speak for itself. Nigerians must know the truth, Tinubu, El Rufai, Buhari and others are deceivers, and we cannot succumb to their selfish plan to get back to power. We have many Nigerians who can govern this country not the tested criminals. GEJ remains better instead of these thieves who speak from two sides of their mouth.
ReplyDeleteNext time Reno, take the pictures of the millions of individual houses being developed at the beginning and end of every city, town and village across the whole length and breadth of this country Nigeria. That is the biggest economic index than anything I've seen in this write up. That's where the story is. Anytime you want to enter a village, town or city, look towards your left and right and see superb houses in brand new Nigerite roofing sheets and Alummaco window frames.
ReplyDeleteA well written master piece. Mr. Femi Kayode should learn from this write - ups. The phrase "ALL PAST CRIMINALS" really describe the true meaning of APC. Nigerians should all open their eyes. PDP they say is not good, but is it not the same PDP members(bad eggs) that is going to APC. The truth of the matter is that Nigerians voted GEJ and not PDP into Presidency. We are saying Nigeria belongs to Nigerians, No more God fatherism. Nigeria does not belong to some cabal or some political group or association. GEJ is better than the likes of Buahari, EL -Rufai or Tinubu. This we all know. We need fresh hands and productive ideas to govern this country not double minded individuals like those that are predominantly in APC...
ReplyDeleteMr. Reno, while I may want to sympathize with you over the fact that we should separate facts and fiction, that we should pay less attention to opposition media propagandist, I also want you to know that you are equally as guilty as the people you berate openly.
ReplyDeleteThis to me is the major problem in Nigeria.
Those in power use the influence of the media to push the progress propaganda while those on the opposition is the external antagonist who see nothing good in what the incumbent is doing. though given the oppurtunity, they will perform more woefully than the incumbent they critizise.
Progress in Nigeria is always on paper, always from the publications of international agencies such as IMF, World bank and other international media.
But the reality on the the ground here in nigeria is a total departure from such claims.
For example, of all the billions spent on the privatization of the power sector all that Nigerians, (not those in power but the Nigerians who have no body in government house) have in return is more period of darkness and increase tariff. Who do such people complain to? God is their only hope.
PHCN extort #750.00 from every pre-paid meter user even when there is no power supply for the whole month. There is even a case of a flat that was vaccant for six month before the new occupant came in, yet when he went to recharge for the first time after several months, he was asked th pay the the cumulated #750.00 for the six months that the flat was vaccant. Is this what you want to sell as tranformation in the power sector.
The irony is that those who created the mess while in office are still living as lords even after they are out of office. The masses who were not part of the original problem have to constantly pay more for the mistake of insensitive leaders.
So to me I am not impressed by your so called facts that can only be verified on a web portal and have no bearing with practical reality. The more Nigerian earns, the lesser the quality of life and the more the ordinanary citizen will have to pay for basic amenities.
I don't see any where in the world that this is equal to progress except in Nigeria.
My submission is APC is the flip side of PDP, when the chips are down it is the ordinary Nigerians who don't have link to govetnment house that alwayss suffer.
Enough of insipid and lack lustre rhetorics, ordinary Nigerians are still in search of their messiah, which at the moment is not the present regime, neither is APC the desired alternative.
The best indices would be for a site to be created where every Nigerian would express their satisfaction or dissatisfaction with this regime, I know for certain the dissatisfied minds will win the day. However the opposition (APC) with their 'beer parlour' criticism of GEJ regime only helps to arouse sympathy for Jonathan. What this country need is an individual with credible report card - REX
