A Customs officer, Enyong Usang, formerly attached to the Oyo/Osun Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, was crushed to death a few minutes into the New Year by a driver, who lost control of his vehicle around Samonda area of Ibadan.
Another officer, Ena Nsed was also injured in the accident.
Usang, who was recently transferred from the command to Lilypong Command in Lagos, was in Ibadan to celebrate the Yuletide with his family when the tragedy occurred.
Usang and Nsed were said to be standing by the median after worshipping at the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries on the New Year eve, when they were hit after the car’s was said to have had a burst tyre on the motion.
It was learnt that Usang died on the spot while Nsed was rushed to the emergency unit of the University College Hospital for treatment while the body of the deceased was also deposited in the hospital mortuary.
