APC directs lawmakers to block service chiefs, ministers’ confirmation

The All Progressives Congress has directed its members in the National Assembly to block all legislative proposals including the 2014 Budget and confirmation of the appointment of service chiefs as well as ministers until constitutionalism is restored in Rivers State, in particular and the nation in general.

This was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of the party’s 8th regular National Executive Council meeting, held in Abuja, on Thursday.

The communiqué, which was read to journalists by the party’s Interim National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, after the over six-hour meeting, noted that the level of impunity by federal authorities in Rivers State, could no longer be tolerated.

The party noted that it might no longer restrain its members nationwide especially in Rivers State, from taking whatever step they deemed necessary to protect themselves and their property, if government fails to stop the growing culture of lawlessness.

It observed that the brazen manner in which the rights of citizens of the state was being breached by persons and institutions saddled with the responsibility of protecting them, was no longer acceptable.

The communiqué read in part, “Following on the forgoing and in view of the joint resolutions of the National Assembly on Rivers State, and other constitutional breaches by the Presidency, the APC hereby directs its members in the National Assembly, to block all “legislative proposals including the 2014 Budget and confirmation of all nominees to military and civilian positions to public office until the rule of law and constitutionalism is restored in Rivers State in particular and Nigeria in general.”

  8. I hate the do-or-die attitude of APC to make themselves relevant by all means. What good would it give Nigerians if the 2014 budget is delayed unnecessarily and other legislative matters that are key to nation building? Could someone tell me why they feel that is the way forward in Nigeria where exists approx. 160 Million people. For God's sake, let them think rational and drop their myopic and political abracadabra.

APC members are politically myopic, fault founders nd very deceptive in dis country, they want the APC lawmakers to stop 2014 budget nd confirmation of newly appointed service chiefs just cos of Amaechi, have they forgot what Gov. Aliyu said, He told all Apc members to bury any plan to contest for 2015 presidential election dat dey will not win nd this a man who foresaw their colour nd refused defection. 15. That's hoe politics is played. The leadership of the house have directed the presidency to review the appointment of the minister of aviation, a minister with fake certificate in the federal cabinet and using N255m to buy two car while even in his home town people are unable to just two meal worth less than N255 a day but the presidency have a deaf eye to the outcry.the house leadership also directed the inspector generel through the presidency to transfer Mr Mbu as commissioner of police from Rivers state but the presidency also have a deaf eye. Then who is now the fools that will just act for the benefit of others while million of nigeria are suffering the wicked and intolerate policies of this presidency. Can you imagine the numbers of persons that are yet to lost their life in Rivers because of personal ambitions while everyday you hear them begging Nigerian to sacrifice.
