Northern students canvass second term for Jonathan

The Arewa Students Progressive Association and the National Union of Izon-Ebe Students have called for a second tenure for President Goodluck Jonathan.

The students said there should be no controversy about the President’s return in 2015, stressing that Jonathan had done a lot in the areas of human capacity building, road projects, health facilities, power and the strengthening of the economy.

They stated this during a visit to the Bayelsa State Government in Yenagoa on Friday. They were received by the Commissioner of Culture and Ijaw National Affairs, Dr. Felix Tuodolo, at Ijaw House, Yenagoa.

The National President, ASPA, Mr. Shu’abu Mohammed, said very soon, the association would organise a one-million-man march in all parts of the country to drum up support for Jonathan’s second term.

He said they were in the state to acquaint themselves with the governor and to pledge their loyalty and total support for President Jonathan.

Mohammed added that considering all the accomplishments of the Jonathan administration, the President deserved to be given a second term in office.

Mohammed stated, “Very soon, the association will carry out a one million man march in all parts of the country to create support for the President.

“Jonathan has done nobly well in the area of infrastructure development. He has strengthened the economy. His inroads into power, health and road projects are worthy of commendation.”

Tuodolo, who promised to convey their message to Dickson, urged the students not to relent in their support for the administration of President Jonathan.

He stressed that the President, as a visionary leader, had delivered on his promise of democracy dividends and therefore should seek re-election in 2015.

Tuodolo commended the groups for their visit and promised to partner with them in actualising the transformation agenda of Jonathan.

  2. I weep for my dear country Nigeria! Even the students whose future are being toyed with are calling for Jonathan's re-election. Please what suitable word can be used to describe this? They have suceeded in buying your future instead of you to sit down and strategize on how to fight to have your future back. What a shame! Please NANS, find out if this set of students are really what they have claimed to be cos I really doubt it.

  7. Na wa O! Instead of going to Abuja they decided to take the message to Bayelsa. Which ws closer to them, Abuja or Bayelsa? Anyway, they very well remembered what happened at Murtala square in Kaduna where some people where almost lynched at the mention of Jonathan for president. If really they are Northerners, let them campaign for GEJ in their towns and watch the drama.
