The senate on Tuesday unanimously passed a harmonised Conference Committee report banning same sex marriage in Nigeria contrary to the stiff western opposition to the ban.
Senate President, David Mark, has therefore called on President Goodluck Jonathan to quickly sign the Bill into law.
Mark said, “We have been under series of attack from different quarters. I think we believe in this Bill. The earlier we sign it into law, the better. We (Nigeria) have have many shortcomings, we don’t one to add this one (same sex marriage) to it.”
The Same Sex Bill 2011 was passed by the Senate on Tuesday 29, November, 2011 and the House of Representatives passed it on Tuesday 2, July 2013.
However, some differences were noticed in the two versions of the Bill, as passed by the two Chambers.
This necessitated the setting up of a Conference Committee in the Senate on Tuesday 9 July 2013 to reconcile the areas of differences, which appeared essentially in five clauses of the Bill.
Specifically, the Bill passed by the Senate provides among others, a marriage contract or civil union entered into between persons of same sex by virtue a certificate issued by a foreign country shall be void in Nigeria.
Also, marriage or civil union entered into between persons of same sex shall not be solemnised in any place of worship either Church or Mosque or any other place whatsoever called in Nigeria.

Thank God there are still sane people in Nigeria. Leviticus 20:13 says " The man who has intercourse with a man in the same way as with a woman: they have done a hateful thing together; they will be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads".
ReplyDeleteSatan is overwhelming Europe and America now and they feel we should just copy whatever they are doing since we cannot think on our own.
May God bless the House and Senators that voted in favour of the bill. Well done, my lawmakers.
Well done our lawmakers for not politicising this same sex marriage issue. Thank u for standing for what is right in the sight of God and in the sight of man.
ReplyDeleteGood news, from India to Australia to Nigeria to Russia..., this house of cards (homosexual lunacy) is crumbling very very fast.
