Kwara State gets FOUR new laws

Gov. AbdulFatah Ahmed of Kwara has signed four Bills into law, with a pledge to further improve wellbeing of residents of the state in the years ahead.

Dr Muideen Akorede, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media, made this known in a statement in Ilorin on Sunday.

The new laws, according to the statement, are the N56.7billion Supplementary Appropriation Law 2013 and Kwara State Office of the Public Defender (Amendment) Law 2013.

Others are the Kwara State Structures for Signage and Advertisement Agency (Amendment) Law 2013 and Kwara State Citizen’s Mediation and Conciliation Centre (Amendment) Law 2013.

It said the appropriation law was to enable the State Government to fund programmes and projects not anticipated in the 2013 appropriation bill but deemed necessary in view of current exigencies.

The statement commended the State House of Assembly for the timely passage of the bills, adding that the governor would build on the successes recorded by his administration in 2013.

The statement added that key life transforming projects in education, health, roads, sports, agriculture, and power sectors of the state’s economy would be implemented in 2013.

It said that several empowerment programmes such as micro credit for artisans and car loans for farmers were implemented in 2013

It promised that many more people would be empowered in 2014 directly or indirectly through socio-economic capital projects. (NAN)
