CAN declares fasting, prayers tomorrow

Umbrella body of Christians in the country, the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, has declared tomorrow a day of fasting and prayers for the security of Nigeria as citizens prepare for the new year.

Making the declaration yesterday, National President of CAN, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor said the prayer had become necessary because it was obvious certain forces were determined to truncate the destiny of the nation.

The cleric explained that in the life of the nation, there are evil forces raging and threatening the corporate existence of Nigeria.

He urged Nigerians, irrespective of their religious or ethnic differences to fast and pray for God to destroy all those who are bent on truncating the destiny of Nigeria.

  1. CAN pastors obviously have a lot. Of money to buy fancy cars and aircrafts while their members in the North are suffering from bolo haram attacks. CAN they not donate money to equip the army to protect the citizens of the affected states? If they do this could it not save some of the innocent lives lost in the crisis and also help save churches from being burnt? I think we should all join hands together and support our physical defenders with contributions.

  6. (2 Chronicles 7:14) 'If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from haeven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land'. (Isa55:7) 'let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts and let him return unto the lord.' (Isa
58:6) 'Is not this the fast that I have chosen? To loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke? This is the word of God.
Where the problem lies is whether the solemn assembly of christians (especially those calling for prayer) are ready to turn from their wicked ways.
