The Federal Government , Tuesday, said it was withdrawing the ultimatum given to striking university lecturers to resume or be sacked following appeals from well-meaning Nigerians and substantial compliance with the directive by some members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities.
According to the Federal Government, the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN has confirmed that a sum of two hundred billion Naira agreed with ASUU at a meeting with President Goodluck Jonathan on the 5th of November ,2013 has been fully paid into a Revitalization of Universities Infrastructure Account.
Addressing Journalists, the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the President on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe who showed to newsmen the CBN letter which was signed by the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr Tunde Lemo and addressed to the Accountant General of the Federation, confirmed that the total sum of two hundred billion Naira was the balance in the account as required.
Okupe who noted that what the federal government was interested in was how to resolve the six month old crisis in a peaceful manner for the overall interest of all concerned, said, “right now, the issue of ultimatum is not a matter for discussion anymore. ReplyDeleteOjolowo my brother, i thumbs u up . These are people that call theirselves our parents. Imagine an issue like this (ASUU STRIKE), a PhD holder is lying. Let GEJ address ASUU and do all he has to do for them to call off the strike.
ReplyDeleteHow can Ngozi okonji iweala come out to the public
ReplyDeleteand tell us that they have paid in N200b in
central bank for ASSU while she know that they
are just running around to make for the cash and
maybe because I came from the same village
with her I will say that theirs nothing wrong in
what she did, God forbid that I will sell my
conscience to inferiority complexities and go to
church to ask for forgiveness later, but what
marvels me most is how fools still see light in this
dark age of our country without receiving any
bribe or even empty promises and still favor this
government in their comments and thoughts but
I say now is the time to speak out against this
wicked government, it may take the next
generation to avart this mess we have found our
selves in but am beginning to see lights in our
future and I want to make this clear today,
Nigeria have not start practicing Democracy yet
and I don't even know what we are practicing
now because there is too many mix up in all our
sectors.
Dancing the Maccabbah dance! Simple thing is taking this evil government so many days to achieve. ASUU wrote you a simple letter, just a simple reply will do instead of all these gymnastics that win you no medal!!! Who is paying this Mr. Okupe for doing nothing but causing big embarrassment for this country?
ReplyDeleteWhy NOT Wike that gave the Ultimatum? thugs! in government! ASUU 2, GEJ and his FOOLS, 0!
ReplyDeleteOkupe, You are a national epitome of embarrasment to this country. If truely you are a holder of Phd, we need to investigate you and the university that confered the degree on you! I am of the opinion, that in characterwise, you a far below such personality.
ReplyDeleteSecondly,Okupe, through your actions and several utterances you are inglorious to the other holders of that degree. Which ever university that gave you that degree, should call for it and strip you off that academic honour.
When a president or ruler surrounds himself with people of like-minds like Okupe as advicers and ministers- people with distorted visions and with sweet but deceptive tongues, the future of such nation is bleak and this is the tell-tale signs of dangerous terrain in which we are treading in this nation.
FG ur. days. Of decieption has gone
ReplyDeleteGuys, i will advise that instead of leaving Doyin Okupe or Jonathan messages here that they will never read, please go to their facebook page and send them either a message or leave such messages on their page. I pray Nigerians will rise up to the task and chase out these thieves out of office. Their lies are nauseating.
ReplyDeleteThe President needs people to advise him on implication of certain measures or policies he is implementing through public opinion without ego, his advisers and minister should had see problems likely caused by I will sack you all rather politely say how do we achieve these our target as promised in our campaign promises. It a petty we have Ministers and advisers that are unable to manage their their Extended Family crisis not talk of UNIVERSITY Education DECAY. These are problems with listing sugar coated mouth people. The president need now to see some ideology of late Yaradua, Mandela will not talk but have deep taught about their says, action and inaction. Abdulrahim K. Abdulwasiu
