PDP Rescues "Go And Die" Widow

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Edo State, has condemned the inhuman treatment meted out on a widow by the State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole. The video which has gone viral captured the event which many have condemed.

The PDP in rescue of the widow has asked the widow to come to their office and get the sum of N250,000 to help cushion the effects her siezed goods will have on her. This was contained in a press release signed by the state chairman, Dan Orbih.

PRESS RELEASE

"Edo PDP watched with consternation Governor Adams Oshiomhole’s brutal, inhuman and merciless treatment of a widow street-trader whose wares he ordered seized and who he unfeelingly told to ‘…go and die’ even as she knelt down in fervent protestations and appeals to his pity on a helpless widow.

The governor’s actions are appalling, insensate, disgraceful, indecent, cruel and below board. It is clear that he does not care much about the well being of the people as he pretentiously avowed. Our hearts go to that hapless widow in this her time of travails and through her, to other widows who have been oppressed by the unfriendly policies of the administration in Edo State.

The PDP, Edo State will not let any Edo person ‘to go and die’ if it can help it, especially not hardworking people like that widow who are engaged in lawful enterprises that are, in themselves, not easy to carry on.

To this end, our party has instituted an endowment fund for all widows and oppressed people in the state and by this release, we invite the widow captured in the video of the encounter with Governor Oshiomhole to come to the PDP Secretariat on No. 70, Sapele Road, at 11am on Tuesday December 3, 2013 to receive a first-installment sum of N250,000.00 to cushion the pain, trauma and loss occasioned by her mistreatment and the seizure of the items she sells. Governance is about the people and as a responsible National Institution, Edo PDP cannot be unconcerned about the wrong treatment of indigenes of the state to whom the present administration promised heaven just to win their votes.

We will continue to stand in the gap to ensure that Edo people are deservedly fairly treatment If Governor Oshiomhole believes that Edo People sinned by voting him into office, let him remember that he will account for his actions, if not to the people because he apparently does not think much of them, but to God Almighty in the short or long run.

We thank all those who have been humanely concerned about the plight of the widow and have stood out vehemently against the crying shame that was the insensitive action of a governor who seems bent on repaying electoral favor with ingratitude."

  1. So PDP is God-sent right? By siezing an opportunity like this to pretend to be good or kind-hearted! Your gesture doesn't make you an angel or a party to vote for. So...chill out! Thanks anyway!

  5. If PDP is so good a party as being cheaply portrayed then;

    1) We would have been lauded for good and godly governance in Nigeria instead of impunity that is now the order of the day even from the PDP presidency.

    2) Then the country's economy will not be in state where you have a "Go and Die Widow". The widow's dilemma was created by PDP.

    Indeed Edo PDP's gesture doesn't make PDP an angel or a party to vote for.

    God will judge everyone that causing the "Go and Die Widow's Dilemma" in Nigeria. It shall never be well with them and there household to the end of time! Amen and Amen.

  6. If PDP is God-Sent as being portrayed then;
    1) The nation would not have been in this state of Federal impunity where a Minister buys bullet-proof cars when you have several "Go and Die" Widows.

    2) The state of the nation would have been better such that the "Go and Die" Widow's dilemma would not have occurred in the first instance. PDP invariable created the situation and enabler for the "Go and Die" Widow's dilemma.

    It is indeed a very cheap attempt by PDP at siezing an opportunity like this to pretend to be good or kind-hearted.

    Remember, in this case, the "Go and Die" Widow actually broke the law even though the Governor was impatient in responding to her plea with a leadership firmness.

    Indeed PDP's gesture doesn't make PDP a party to vote for.

  7. What kind of stupid sory, y did oshiomhole not go and look 4 the widow in question to apologise to her personally and assist her financially, instead of allowing his opposition party to sieze the opportunity. Oshiomhole fucked up. He too is a widower, so he should "go and die"

  14. Its a pity for some youth of nigeria whose comment apparently are against the action of the pdp because I thought we have youths that would stand in the gap for the people and the nation in the nearest future.I was suprised when I saw some aducate youth writting nonsence. No matter I repaet no matter what the PDP are tryin to do at this point makes them better than a party that has just declared a widow's death because I wonder if now is the right time to make NIGERIA look like AMERICA and I still wwonder if the reason for such devilish act is our problem in this country.Nothing would have been worst than what that so called GOVENOR did.I want to use this avenue to urge the youth of NIGERIA to always act and say things that would make make the future of this country safe in their hands in future.

  15. I don't care if pdp did it in good faith or not, the bottom line is that the poor womans cry was heard by our dearest God

  16. What the PDP did is commendable. That widow could have indeed "gone and died" if no such a gesture came her way. But, much as I support environmental cleanliness, must it take a personal supervision of a Governor to enforce it? Or is the man not busy?

  17. Shameless politicians! Why did they not do such for widows before that incident? They're all the same

  18. Woman! There's this popular political saying that there are no permanent friends or enemies in politics but permanent interests. We the electorate, must also learn to apply this principle. Going by this, the widow should simply accept all the offers made to her by both sides and still focus on her objectives. As far as I'm concerned, all of them are the same.

  19. Carry on PDP, POWER TO THE PEOPLE,
    This is how to win election(s). Ruling parties
    should always expect the unexpected from opposition in a true democracy.
    Oshiomole said wrong words at the right time concerning the hapless Widow.
    PDP came to her rescue by giving her a head start.

  20. Woman, going by the popular political saying that there are no permanent friends or enemies in politics but permanent interests, I advice you accept whatever is offered to you by any of them but be focused on your interests and the attainment of your objectives in life. As for me,all of them are the same trickish, self interest oriented gluttons.

  21. Edo governor was right if u start 2take pity on pipo who disobey d law, we wont progress. If an area has been marked out 4 dont trade, u shud not bcos u are a widow trade there and expect a hug. Being a widow shouldn't be d yard stick 4 tolerating rubbish. D governor is human too. Mat be d words were harsh but itz not to be taken as doe he killed her. As 4 pdp, they can call all d widows n give dem money 2show they are indeed d best. Calling just 1widow solves nothing. They can move arnd state by state giving moni

    1. @Anonymous 9:47am...if u take a critical look at the video, u'll see that the woman in question did not display the goods for sale on the road; and she emphasized the fact that she was only waiting to get vehicle to transport the goods to her house. If u're not deaf, u'll hear her cried "this is where we get picked up by buses". And for u to say it's not wrong for the Governor to have done what he did, I feel u're also wrong cos there are millions of better ways he could have handled the situation. And for the statement he made, well, saying sorry isn't enough to after the harm has been done. The international community have heard him and it's on record for life! #Senator

  25. APC is too arrogant and seems not matured in politics and if they continue like this they will not go too far in Nigerian politics .Assuming that Edo gubernatorial election is around the corner and with this action displayed by Oshiomole there is no way APC will win such election if it is conducted in free and fair atmosphere . This is a related mistake which Fashola did that rub the party governor`s seat in Anambra state were people new that Ngige had chance to win the election . We hope APC as a party has not allowed the broom to control itself .People like Oshiomole should be very careful because a lot of people in Nigeria are interested in anything that has to do with him .He is a national figure . 27. Widowhood is not a yardstick to illegality. If you break the law, widow or widower, you get the butt. These widows have been in Edo State as in everyother state in Nigeria, FIDIPI just realised after over 13 yrs. What a shame.....

    ReplyDelete
  28. Even if the woman was wrong in selling at a forbidden place, that should not warrant such a statement by a governor that is supposed to correct in humane manner. The governor is the father of the state. He should not tell his child to go and die. More so when she is a widow. But the PDP action, it is political. The party wants to score a political point. The party is not better either.

  29. A point to note here. Himmler could not have run the deah camps without his henchmen to do the dirty work for him. Even more frightening than the hangman of Edo's actions and words were the actions of his bullyboys. one in particular draws attention in the video. These "enforcers" should also face serching questions. How easily they ran to do their masters bidding. manhandling the woman off the street. Theas brown nose sychophants should be named and exposed also because without these idots the hangman of Edo is powerless,
