Passengers stranded on the flight last night in Abuja
“It was as if the Aero Contractors turned us into prisoners of war,” said the passenger, adding that many passengers were terrified as the plane sat on the tarmac of Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport in Abuja for several hours, with passengers locked up inside.
Our source disclosed that Flight AJ132 from Abuja to Lagos was supposed to take off at 8 p.m., but was delayed until midnight. Then, once passengers boarded, they were left inside the aircraft until 3 a.m. on Saturday.
He added that the pilots and the crew left the aircraft with the passengers without giving any explanation. A source at the airline said it was a case of “Aircraft On Ground”, a term used to depict seriousness of engine trouble that causes an aircraft to be grounded.
“I think this kind of thing can only happen in Nigeria where customers are treated by an airline as if they were just rats trapped inside a plane, and the pilots and crew members disappear just like that.”
newsmen could not reach a line for Aero Contractors to obtain an official response to the incident. Several passengers booked on other Aero’s flights suffered similar delays at airports around Nigeria.

Wasn't it better u were all grounded than for the plane to crash. They were probably trying to clear all doubts abt d plane's state b4 taking off...
ReplyDeleteAbi... Tnx for that answer! Prolly they didn't want them panicking that's y they didn't tell them anything... At least thank God there was no crash!
ReplyDeleteWhat kind of silly answer is that? That's why we are always lacking in Nigeria, when there is a problem of such you have to keep the passengers informed at all times and not just lock them up against their will.
ReplyDeleteThey ought to inform the passengers wats happening and also allow them to disembark from the plane until it is fixed rather than trapping them in it.
ReplyDeleteThis is a means to make money o. i think we should start suing for negligence and they also compromised their safety.
ReplyDeleteCountry where there is no purnishment, there is no sin. Untill people, organization, or any goverment arm (individual or group) are severly purnished for any unreasonable wrong doing like the case of that airline management, then they will learn next time to treat people well. I have visited and lived in many advanced countries, government of such countries protect it's people from the exccessivess of business people to the public. There is no will from nigerian goverment (past and present regime) to protect it's people, all they think about is how to raise tariff and steal the money acruied. Back to the Airocontractor, people should be able to freely sue the company and win the case without doubt if it's in a right thinking country, where bribary is the other of the day. The only one person i see in that country who could reason for the people and implement lawful ideas and also follow it is Oshiomole. God will raise Nigeria and kill the wickeds, Amen!
ReplyDeleteWe're suffering because of a failed Judiciary. The judiciary is the most important arm of Government. It is supposed serve in a regulatory capacity to the other two arms of Government recognised by the Nigerian system. But because the have eaten from that forbidden fruit, they've been weakened. They seem to lack direction. They have little or no autonomy. That's why serious issues are handed over to adhoc commitees instead of the judicary using the various apparati at its disposal to handle issues. The security operatives in charge of maintaining law and other should be under full control of the Judiciary, that way,the Law as executed by the Judiciary will mandate the police to dispatch their duties. That's why the police cannot go ahead and arrest corrupt government officials. I don't know of any game where the players are also the umpires. If it's made so,then do not expect good arbitration. The Executive must allow the Judiciary have TOTAL control of Law enforcement Agencies if we'll move forward as a Nation. The head of the Judiciary must be in control of the IGP,who takes orders from him regardless of the Executive.
