The Governor of Niger State and Chairman of the Northern States Governors Forum, Babangida Aliyu, on Saturday said over 400 northerners betrayed the North after collecting money from mercenaries. He promised to publish the list soon.
Aliyu who made this disclosure while making tribute to the late Emir of Minna Alhaji Ahmadu Bahago at the 25th anniversary of the Emir of Minna Alhaji Umaru Faruk Bahago said the North was not afraid of 2015 general elections.
He said, “We hear rumours of some people who say they have the list of four hundred northerners that they are going to settle, and they are sure if they settle the 400, everything will be okay. We are looking for that list so that we will tell the people that these are the people that want to betray you. This sense of betrayal on the northerners has festered into a groundswell of mistrust.
“I must advise all of us to be conversant with the happenings in our country, we must be cautious that through the ballot papers we can always determine who becomes our leader in Nigeria, by God’s grace plenty good things will happen in 2015. Whoever God brings we will follow. Do not be afraid, let there be 200 candidates, God will allow only one candidate emerge.’’
Aliyu while condemning the outcome of the Anambra governorship election said. “With what happened in Anambra State, we don’t pray it repeats itself in 2015 general election because that could cause a problem for all of us as a nation. We must all put our hands on deck to ensure the people understand the right.”
He added, “INEC and others must understand that election is not about money. If politics is about number, then the northern states should not complain, because whatever touches one, touches all us.
“We must therefore, not be afraid of 2015; Allah shall do well for Nigeria. However, our major concern should be focused on our electoral laws and the performance of the Independent Electoral Commissioner, especially with what happened in Anambra State.” Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday

DeleteSince when did Emmanuel Allison become a Northern name in Nigeria.
DeleteA Man Full of shit,,,, Look at what a leader is saying,,, Sowing seed of division... Your time to go political exile is very near...
ReplyDeletebabangida aliyu,u are always an idiot, claiming to be fighting for the whole north,bt we northerners know that you doing all these for your selfish interest. Kadir
ReplyDeleteWhen will regionalism give way for nationalism in Nigerian politics?
ReplyDeleteThe truth they say is bitter. If Aliyu is wrong then who is right? GEJ was voted by not only xtains or southerners but they later claim the victory. If gov Aliyu is not right, as clean, open and disciplined as Buhari why are the southerners vis-a-vis CAN poisoned at him. Is it a threat or must Aliyu say it before we know that democracy being a game of number must definitely favor the tribes that practice poligamy and limitless number of children? We shall see 2015. GOD in HIS infinite mercy will give Nigeria the best among the best president. Amin.
ReplyDeleteAmin u and ur type in the north must know that aliyu does not fight for north rather for himself. He will go behind to beg GEJ. The next day u see him criticizing. Note that Nigeria doesn't belong to muslim and bokoharam nor their users like this aliu or buhari or u. There are yet reasonable northerners who are not bigots or divisive. When other zones in th nation were voting the northeen presidents in the past, no section or tribe did make such comments in their various areas or zones against the northern candidates. Sowing seed of division, intolerant and hatred against other politicians should be abhored not support it. I've not and there will never be a northern president without the votes of other zones. Note current agitation and revelation by midbeltans leaves north with just 2 zones only north east and west. Ur wicked politics of maginalizatio n divide and rule by muslim elites from nortth west n east have left them with no choice. Be not deceived.
ReplyDeleteHow can a governor be talking about northern agenda every time in a country comprised of north, south, east and west. This man is really a joker.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous 1.02, what makes you think that Buhari is clean? Imagine where we would ve been had our democracy not been truncted by Buhari in 1983, giving way to 16 years of visionlessness and dictatorial rulership with no sense of leadership. I read a piece last week by a northern elder that gave the true picture of Buhari's quest. He is not clean, he is very corrupt which was why he worked with Abacha's corrupt government. Who are his sponsors and how has he been sustaining himself if he didn't keep some money back. Like in Mcbeth, the one that murdered sleep should not sleep. Buhari truncated democracy and brought us back to square one, we would ve been passed this stage. He is not fit to lead in a democracy. Emeka
