Several newspapers report that the African country of Angola has become the first country in the world to ban Islam and Muslims.
The Angolan Minister of Culture, Rosa Cruz e Silva was quoted by news agencies and Angola newspapers as saying,
"The process of legalisation of Islam has not been approved by the Ministry of Justice and Human rights, their mosques would be closed until further notice."
As part of the ban, the Angolan government ordered the demolition of the mosques in the country.
According to the official, such a decision became the latest in a series of attempts to ban "illegal" sects in the country.
This statement by Silva was made during her appearance last week at the 6th Commission of the National Assembly.
The minister says that the move became necessary in order to fight the emergence of congregations whose worshipping is contradictory to the customs of Angola culture.
The measure concerns not only Islam - many other not legalized faiths will face closure of their houses of worship.
The list of the banned sects published by the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights in the Angolan newspaper 'Jornal de Angola' contains all the sects, which are not allowed to conduct worship.
"In addition, we also have a long list of more than a thousand legalization applications," the official stated.
Commenting on the issue, Angolan President Jose Eduardo dos Santos said,
"This is the final end of Islamic influence in our country."
Angola's population of 16 million is predominantly Christian, with only 80,000-90,000 Muslims, the majority of whom are migrants from West Africa and families of Lebanese origin, according to the US State Department.
The crackdown on Islam comes as Christians in the Middle East are being forced from Muslim countries.
Former Israeli Ambassador to the US Michael Oren noted in 2012 that the Christian population in the Middle East dropped from 20% a century ago to 5% currently amid ongoing persecution of Christians by Muslims.
Oren noted in Egypt 200,000 Coptic Christians fled their homes in 2011 amid anti-Christian violence during the "Arab spring" uprising that toppled dictator Hosni Mubarak.
In 2012 Saudi Arabia's top Muslim leader, Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdulaziz Al al-Shaikh, issued a fatwa (religious decree) to demolish all churches on the Arabian peninsula.
Particularly in Africa, analysts have commented that Islamist forces have been killing and expelling Christians largely with negligible international criticism.
Aside from Islam, other religions that have not been legalized will face similar measures in Angola. The non-legalized religions on the list "published by the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights in the Angolan newspaper 'Jornal de Angola' are prohibited to conduct worship, so they should keep their doors closed," said Silva.

ReplyDeleteFreedom of Religion is a fundamental right of Humans irrespective of what the humans choose to worship. It could be stones, wood or the real God. The function of the State is to see that the worship does not create problems for others. Taking away the right to worship what one chooses creates more, than solves an associated problem. Those praising Angola know not what awaits Angola now and should be ready to weep with them when it finally arrives!!! This is the most dangerous move that any country can make. To build takes years but to destroy can take a second. The entire Muslim world will now target Angola to make sure that it regrets that decision so that other Countries will not copy it. Just 3 hardline Islamic countries can raise 10 times Angola's yearly GDP and this will be dedicated to teaching them a lesson.

Trust me those guys only did business, find out from them they only wanted the money and that was it. We have the likes who after collecting the money called islam a bluff and reverted to Christianity, so do not celebrate yet. During my NYSC in sokoto those days, one came there and was taking around all the local govts for donation. Because he told them he was translating Koran to Igbo language. Then in Yabo local govt, Chairman was so happy that he called me to show me an Ibo man who wanted to translate Koran to Ibo. After the introduction, when he left the man knowing I am Christian called outside and told me to ignore him that he just wanted their money and nothing like translation of koran to Igbo. if he could boldly tell me that, a supposedly "confessed" muslim. I doubt this recently muslim celebrated convertion making news. I still believe these guys deep down are still in their old belief, they only needed to make some cash, and after getting it will go back. It happened many times and this will not be surprising. Besides, no sane person will after killing his relatives will embrace you. I want to believe this was an indirect way to collect compensation for the lost ones killed by islamic bokoharam, from Isa Yuguda. For kalu and Okorocha, they've just help their people oppressed and killed by islamist and bokoharam, no qualms.
ReplyDeleteOn the issue of ratio of Christians to Islamists converting to the others religion, I will tell you that more Muslims convert to Christianity than christian convert to islam. the reason you do not see the publicity is because of wicked and intolerant doctrine of islam calling for death (fatwa) of any muslim who converts to christianity. By the grace of God recently through phone, I preached to one in far way Plateau he gave his life to Christ and he is still a Christian till date, but his problem according to him is that if of his people/relatives know they will kill him. So for that he has relocated to Abuja where he is not known to enable him worship God in the name of Jesus. He so scared to let anyone know, because he used to be a very harden islamic believer and preacher. For him to repent you guess what that means. I can go on and on but for time and space let me stop. Hundreds of muslims including bokoharam members are fast converting to christianity, so do not be deceived.
I weep for Angola, no matter what you do, the truth will surely prevail. Why do you want the wrath of Almighty God to befall your people? ReplyDeleteI call on every well meaning muslim out there to think about themselves very well, from the antecedents of mohammed to the way most muslims live their lives to what is really contained in Koran, think about it dispassionately think about the ideal "GOD" figure we all crave for,ask yourself ,is this truly how God intended that he should be worshipped? Ask yourself does God truly want me to kill or enslave people who don't practise the same religion with me?
