Lazio midfielder Eddy Onazi is the talk of Rome today after chasing down a mugger and handing him over to local cops!
There was no way the Nigerian was going to let a local villain get away with stealing from a Rome tourist.
"I was having dinner with my brother near to the Termini Station and there were some tourists sitting next to us,” Onazi told Lazio Style Radio after the story hit the headlines.
“I saw a boy and immediately felt due to his suspicious behaviour that he wanted to steal something. I didn’t even have time to tell my brother that he had already snatched the tourist’s wallet and run off.
“I noticed it, so I ran after him, but stayed on the other side of the street. I ran for 300 metres, the mugger left the wallet under a car, but I saw him.
“I chased him down and brought him back to the restaurant, avoiding the ire of the people around there. I told the restaurant owner to call the police and we brought the wallet back to the lady. She was in tears and thanked me, as the wallet was full of money.
“At that point, seeing as the situation had been resolved, my brother and I left.”

Nigerians are honest people, but poverty has turn many into crime and other social vices. Thank U Anazi, continue to show the world the true side of Nigerians.
ReplyDeleteI hope the mugger is not linked to a larger and notorious criminal "Italian Mafia" gang who could seek revenge against our Super Eagle for foiling a heist. May God protect our "good Samaritan"
ReplyDeleteNigerians are known for always being our brothers keepers but some microscopic few has painted us black.
ReplyDeleteNA WE WE.ONLY A NIGERIAN CAN CATCH A MUGGER LIK THAT.HE LARNT IT IN ONITSHA
ReplyDelete@Anonymous of 6:04: Na waa for you oo my brother, so Onazi sef na thief abi?
ReplyDeleteDon't mind the bastard that comments about Onitsha, such people like him should be jailed in prison for insinuating that a good samaritan like onazi once lived at onitsha to be able to catch a mugger boy. He was only security conscious and at alert to notice the mugger's moves. God bless you Onazi.
ReplyDeletegood work my brother
ReplyDeleteWhat he did was good but not encouraged in this part of the world simply because he might be hurt. Even as a security guard you are not allowed to follow or chase someone who has stolen. However, you are expected to call the police 911 with the immediate effect. No one should encourage this can of attitude from anyone. I am sure people will blame him if he has been shot by the robber. Let's all be careful. God job though, but it can be expensive most times.
