Made-in – Nigeria phone debuts

Plans have reached very advanced stage to launch two new Made-in-Nigeria mobile phone brands into the nation’s booming telephony market later this year, the Phone and Allied Products Dealers Association, PAPDAN has disclosed.

President of PAPDAN, Mr Godfrey Iyke Nwosu, who disclosed the plan, said that the Made in Nigeria phone brands is the outcome of a joint venture among 20 Nigerian investors, who have pooled resources to introduce devices that will cater to local market needs.

The two new phone brands will be called iQ and MaxTel.

Nwosu said that PAPDAN had identified a growing appetite for cutting-edge technologies among Nigerian telecoms consumers, noting that the two Nigerian brands will cater to three market segments.

  2. That is a good development so to say. Though the components will very likely be manufactured from China and will then be assembled here. At least we can erk some little little earnings from that too.

  4. iQ indeed! Hmmmmm, where is the factory sited? I hope some Ibo business men have not gone to China to import some toys with their chosen branded names to come and fool us. Of course you trust Nigerians, they will never go for it since there will be lots of better toys in the market.
