Kano Pillars Win The Nigerian Premier League

Kano Pillars have successfully defended their Nigeria Premier League title having emerged champions of the 2012/13 season despite going down to a 2-0 defeat to Lobi Stars in their last game of the current campaign.

The 2-0 defeat suffered in Makurdi nonetheless, Pillars finished top of the log with 63 points while Enyimba finished close second with 62 points after beating Sharks FC 1-0 in Aba.

Bayelsa United sneaked in third place with 61 points and El-Kanemi Warriors came fourth with 60 points.

This is Pillars third league championship, and they along with Enyimba will represent Nigeria in next year’s CAF Champions League.

Pillars are the first club in 10 years to win back-to-back titles since Enyimba did same in 2001/2002 & 2002/2003.

At the bottom, the trio of ABS FC, Kwara United and Wikki Tourist join already relegated Shooting Stars in the lower division for the coming season.
