The defeat ended Keshi’s four match unbeaten run having enjoyed straight wins over South Africa, Malawi, Burkina Faso and Ethiopia with the last defeat being far back in June at the Confederations Cup in Brazil against world champions Spain.
Monday’s friendly match was the first international football meeting between Nigeria and Jordan at any level.
A questionable penalty kick awarded in the dying stages of the first half and well converted by Jordan’s skipper Hartem Aqel separated the two sides after 90 minutes as the Nigerian team despite enjoying appreciable ball possessions failed to translate their dominance into goals.
The Jordan friendly is the first in a long list of international games that the Nigeria Football Federation is putting together for the home boys ahead of their campaign at the Africa Nations Championships in South Africa in January 2014.
Jordan on their part were using Monday’s friendly to prepare for their 2014 FIFA World Cup play-off fixture against Uruguay. Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday
