Governor Orji, Instructs Police To Stop Gov. Okorocha’s Birthday Reception In Abia

The proposed civic reception in honour of Imo State governor, Rochas Okorocha, billed to hold today in Aba, the commercial nerve centre of Abia State, has been stopped on the orders of the state governor, Theodore Orji.

Abia governor who alleged that the reception was a ploy to launch the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the state stopped the reception organised by rescue missionaries to mark the 51 birthday of Okorocha.

According to one of the organisers who pleaded anonymity,

“all arrangements have been concluded for today’s event to mark our governor’s (Okorocha) birthday, scheduled to hold at Abia State Polytechnic, we have paid for the venue and obtained police permit but suddenly Governor Orji ordered that it should not be held on the soil of Abia”.
It was gathered that the sudden cancellation of the birthday reception by Abia State governor might not be unconnected with the strained relationship between the duo.

It was equally learnt Governor Orji also instructed the police not to permit any gathering in the state in whatever guise as long as it has to do with the Imo State governor.

When contacted the deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr. Chinedu Offor, said that they were not aware why the reception was stopped, adding that it was not a political rally but a religious affair.
According to him,

“our brothers and other progressive minded people in Abia State felt that since the governor had been hosted in the South West, they felt they also should felicitate with him, so I don’t see anything wrong with that”.

However efforts to reach the Chief Press Secretary to Abia State Governor, proved abortive, as his phone was not responding.

  1. How will there be growth n development when neighbouring states are at loggerheads. The interesting part is no one can actually pin point the cause of the feud. And even if it can be identified, is it worth fighting for? Funny as it Abia state was once Imo state.

Theo n Rochas should please kiss and make up. There's much more to be achieved together. Refer to the issues between Umuleri and Aguleri.

  4. Abia indigenes do not want APC = Anti-People Club or better put Anihilation People Congress. Okorocha should stop in Imo, he has no domain in Abia. This arrogant and disrespectful behaviours of APC members can not be tolerated in Abia. Abians are to hot to be manipulated. APC went to Anambra to insult Obi of Onitsha on his ofala. Now they are trying to enter Abia thru back door without the permission or knowledge of the Chief Security officer - the Governor. On this action I am totally behind Orji. If Anambra could condone it, not in Abia. You don't mess around in Aba, Abia - the cradle of Ibo resilliance and struggle. Host of Aba women riot, birth place of Baka Boys, Massob. Because everything about APC is anti-Ibo and those "Ibos" supporting them are as well sabotuers, we can welcome okorocha. He should remain Imo, what has Aba or Abia benefitted from him He has free schools in the North, probabily one in Imo. Now he wants to use Abian to satisfy his inordinate ambition. God forbid those who can sell their people for a pot of porridge and / or a dangling carrot from enemies of Ibo existence.
