FIFA President Sepp Blatter pays tribute to Rashidi Yekini

Fifa President Sepp Blatter paid tribute to Nigeria’s late football hero Rashidi Yekini Thursday.

The former Olympiacos and Vitoria Setubal striker would have turned 50 on 23rd of October if he were alive, and Blatter tweeted a tribute in honour of the legend’s birthday.

“Rasheed Yekini would have been 50 today. His name as scorer of Nigeria’s first World Cup goal lives on,” the message on Blatter’s official twitter handle read.

Yekini was top scorer in the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations enroute to the Super Eagles winning the competition which he was also adjudged to be the Most Valuable Player.

  2. I agree with u Ay.this country can easily forget history nd don't appreciate good pple nd heroes.Yekini is far better than any of these corrupt nd useless gov nd presidents of this country interm of his contribution nd has attracted international recongnition,at least they can mention naija name without attributing crime to it.unlike these useless leaders that soil the name of this nation with their corruption.
