AGAIN, 89 Passengers Escape Death, As IRS Airline Plane Crash-Lands In Kaduna

Report reaching NigerianEYE states that tanother air disaster was averted on sunday evening as a plane belonging to IRS Airline made a forceful landing in Kaduna.

The IRS Airline plane, on Sunday, had to disembark 89 passengers right on the runway in the northern Nigeria city of Kaduna, after a landing itch, the airline said in a statement.

IRS managing director, Yemi Dada, said the pilots of flight 3390 with 89 passengers onboard received a low hydraulic warning minutes before landing.
An hydraulic warning means there is a problem with landing gear, nosewheel steering, brakes, cargo doors, thrust reversers or both primary and secondary flight controls.

On final approach to Kaduna today on our flight 3390 with 89 passengers, our cockpit crew got a low hydraulic in system 1 warning and decided to take precautionary measures to ask for ground confirmation that all gears were down and locked,” he said.

Dada said the aircraft landed normally after the control tower had confirmed that the gears were all down normally.

“The crew proceeded to land but followed procedure to disembark on the runway and not taxi in accordance with the procedure,” Dada said.

All passengers disembarked normally and the aircraft was towed to ramp.

“The maintenance crew are inspecting to confirm the issue that caused the warning to the crew,” he said.

However, some of the passengers who spoke to NE said they were alarmed at the sudden drop in altitude as the plane began preparing to land in Kaduna

We have also reliably learnt that the plane was carrying passengers from Lagos to Kaduna.

“There was no casualty,”.

Efforts to get the ministry of aviation to explain what happened to the aircraft has proved abortive as aides to the minister has not responded to email inquiries.

Security has been beefed at the airport and journalists were barred from entering the airport as the time of filing this report.

The last incident in Kaduna airport was on 20 August 2010, when a Chanchangi Airlines Flight 334, operated by Boeing 737-200 5N-BIF struck the localizer antenna and landed short of the runway. Several passengers were slightly injured and the aircraft was substantially damaged. Chanchangi Airlines later suspended operations following the accident.

It can be recalled that some days ago, a chartered Associated Airlines plane crashed in Lagos seconds after take-off, killing over a 15 persons. Few days after that a Kabo airline made an emergency landing in Sokoto. This is the third time in 2 weeks the Nigerian aviation sector is having major air-related issues.

  7. This is the manifestation level of height of corruption in that in display. Is it not time for Jonathan Government to resign, for goodness sake.
You cannot give what you don't have. Jonathan lacks the capacity to handle Nigeria.
The root cause of all this is OBJ. First he wants please the Yar'adua's family, he brought in the late president. This is because of his relationship with the former Yar'adua late General, who was second in command when Obasanjo was military head of state and convict, during the late dictator Abacha. He also want to please the Niger Delta, where he stole unimaginable oil money. My question now: Is leadership meant for sentiment or meant for those who are prepared for it. Nigerians if you check very well the late president Yar'adua and the present idiot never prepared for such position. From all indication it seen that Jonathan has no plan of his own for Nigeria, he being manipulated by mediocre. Just look at PDP no leadership direction yet it is the ruling party. I pray God to give us the patient to bear the burden on till 2015 then we can amend the lost time. Imagine the only language in Nigeria is money. This is share madness. Come and see how things work in other clime. Nigeria should try and forget where they come from instead think of good leaders from any where in Nigeria. May God help the helpless.......

    1. You can't call the president of this country that unprintable name! Rather it is you one can call that. Is this the first time air mishaps have happened in this country or in other countries?. Did the presidents resign. I can see you are writing this rubbish because of your foolish and uninformed background. Go bury yourself in shame or rather commit suicide cos the president is constitutional qualified to contest in2015. His refusal to allow people like you to milk the country dry has pitched you people against him. All of shall fail and GEJ shall be elected again by popular votes in 2015.

Mr president if ubdont care, we do.just 2 weeks ago on the first sunday in October, the same airline cancelled a flight frm ABJ to Kano due to OPERATIONAL REASONS. Who are the pple certifying these planes? Mr president, plsssss take action, our safety is much more important than BEAUTIFYING airports. Or do u want senate tell u that we need serious minded professionals as aviation minister? Haba, plnsafe us. Wisbdo we run to? NO ROADS! AIR NA DISASTER! HABA

  12. This is the only country where planes up to 20 years of age still fly. Disasters waiting to happen. How do these airlines source the parts to service these very old planes? Please government should ban any aircraft above 10 years from flying in Nigeria.

I can only suggest to d authority to make sure dat air plane operators shuld. Purchase new air plane b4 dey go into operations so b4 10years to 15year dey shuld replaced to avoid plane crash nt buyin expired air planes and bring dem into nigeria for operations pls let a task force b implimented to check dem b4 use.

  15. Nigerianeye, na wa for una. How is this a crash-land? You dont know the difference between an emergency landing and a crash-landiing? Please stop misleading the public.

And we need to get one thing clear, it is not the age of the aircraft that is an issue, it is the lack of maintenance. A five year old plane without maintenance will run into major issues very soon, while a 30 year old plane with proper maintenance and inspections will probably fly another ten years before retiring without any incident. If you research, you will find that a lot of western airlines still fly planes above 15years old.

  16. Is GEJ the aviation minister? Why would some people not reason before they speak, pls learn how not to speak out of proportion. All the same I give God the glory since the crash was averted. Infact instead of the crash, let their be an emergency land. God you are too much.

  17. Last guy that commented u said no road why didn't u ask GEJ to remove minister for works since we v no road and pple are dieing on daily basis on nigerian road?D problem wth nigerians is that we don't stick to the truth , the journalist used a sensitive caption just to sell his market that about 89 passengers averted death how? Bcos the aircraft cleared to land final ,its undercarriage wasn't showing and signalling in the cockpick. And d pilot contacted the controller to confirm if d undercarriage is out b4 it landed.any professional in aviation industry knows that aircraft is bound to have such challenges that is why u v a controller in the tower to look out for undercarriage of aircraft on final landing and make sure it is out if not out u inform the pilot that is his duty.so nigerian enjoy hatred and critics . Is God dat wil deliver pple of nigerians.everything is GEJ , everything is sack o men u gus should wise up

  18. The problem of Naija Aviation is just corruption. All what GEJ needs to do is just to curb corruption nd sack the minister for aviation on ground of incompetency.actually plane crash still happens even in developed countries but is rare unlike ours that it was after the crash u wl be hearing all sorts of infos such as the plane is old or is under repair.

  20. Is it not madness when you sit down in your house to call aviation minister and the president in this issue, when a company cannot lubricate and work on their engine.

All I know is that Nigeria's atmosphere is charged politically as we are driving towards 2015;but the children of God will continue to be victorious no matter all the devil's scheme.
All this planes doesn't want to kill anybody;but humanbeings chose to kill each other, the case of Associated Airlines preliminary reports said it all ,then who is to blame ,when the whole system lacks the will to air lift the machine to Akure;but the absurd pilot instead of aborting the flight chose to go ahead.

I think is time every nigerian get on our knees and fast and pray for God's forgiveness so our land can be healed you can read 2 Chronicle 7:14 we have sinned against God no one is excluded!

  21. Low hydraulic pressure happens with aircraft and its not matter of maintenance.. Your new car can have flat tire...it can even develop electrical fault. This is not crash landing at all. This happens all the the time on Repo program

ntenance or corruption devil is at work

  23. A low hydraulic warning is not unusual in planes. Its practically the same as getting a low oil warning in your car when you're about to park so stop spreading misinformation...
So long as the plane did not get a stall warning then nothing was wrong with the flight.
You need to thoroughly educate yourselves on aerodynamics before you decide to comment on it
