Parents Burn Son With Pressing Iron

A teenager has been burnt on the chest with a hot pressing iron by his parents for allegedly stealing their neighbours’ belongings.

The victim, Chibuzor Kemkem, 15, was also allegedly battered with pestle by his parents, Mr and Mrs Ikecchukwu Kemkem, who have been arrested by the police at the Area ‘M’ Police Command, Idimu, Lagos State, western Nigeria.

The incident occurred Monday at their residence, 12, Olayinka Street, Idimu. An eye witness informed P.M.NEWS that the parents descended on the teenager because he stole their neighbour’s laptop and clothes.

It was also alleged that he stole a phone SIM card belonging to his father.

According to the eyewitness who pleaded for anonymity, “Mr and Mrs Kemkem told me that the reason why they treated their son like that was that he stole a laptop from her co-tenant and he has been involved in stealing for a while which is a source of worry for them.”

Another eyewitness, Babatunde Jogunomi, lambasted the parents for treating their son so badly.

He said if Chibuzor is involved in stealing, his parents should not have beaten him to that extent.

Some of the sympathisers who spoke to P.M.NEWS said that what the Kemkems did to their son was condemnable and they should be charged to court for child abuse.

Investigations by P.M.NEWS revealed that Chibuzor’s elder brother is currently serving jail term at the Badagry Prison for armed robbery.

It was gathered that the first son was chased out of home by the parents..

When P.M.NEWS visited Area M Command, Idimu, to confirm the arrest of Chibuzor’s parents, a police officer confirmed it and said the case will be charged to court after investigation had been concluded.

  2. Nigerian Police always quick to charge to court without investigation. At the court they will conive with the corrupt migistrate to continue delaying judgement for their own selfish interest.

  3. Y did d police not arrest the boy who stole. The parents did d right thing by beating the boy. Afterall the bible advises parents to beat their child when they do something very bad.

  4. Guys, it is wrong to beat a child or any1. No one has d law in his hands even d police. Plus d holy bible never said parents shud beat their child. Christians hv misinterpreted ''Spare d rod and spoil d child''. The rod in that context is the ''Word of God'', it is teaching d child the ways of God, or risk spoiling them. Psalms of David said, ''Thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me.
Nigerian parents and schools must stop the traditional ways of Child Abuse (Beating and Flogging). And do the right thing from the start.

This is not a beating matter. I pray God will open the eyes of understanding of the parent to know that this issue is tending towards being a curse. The same beating method was employed on the elder brother but never worked and now became a hardened criminal. They need to seek the face of God in fasting and prayer

  7. Spare the rod and spoil the child. The boy stole period. What he did is punishable by law. On the other hand, the parents should not have used iron. It so wrong. However ,the parents should have used other means to cure him like deliverance, councilling and lot more. The kind of friends we keep matters. I feel for the parents because people will call them names. I think all comes down to anger. Which is evil. Pity. But you have to wear their shoes to know how they feel. God forbid evil.
