IN PICTURES: The National Stadium In Abuja Wears A New Look

JUNGLE ON THE PITCH: What it looked like few months ago
On the 27th of march 2013, we published a series of photos showing that the  Stadium had been mismanaged and deteriorated as result.

The Nigerian government then awarded "The transformation contract" to construction giant Julius Berger.

Yesterday evening September 17, months later,  the new pitch of the main bowl of the National Stadium was handed over to the minister of Sports, Mallam Bolaji Abudulahi, by the construction company.

The was plenty of music and also a match between the Nigerian under- 17 soccer team and Amakon Soccer Academy on the new pitch  in  Abuja.

The National Stadium in Abuja was built at the cost of over N54 billion to hold the All Africa Game in 2003. As a result of  neglect and mismanagement the edifice was left to deteriorate over the years. However, it now has a new look.
