The factional National Chairman of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Abubakar Baraje, has said that his life is in danger following what he described as the latest onslaught against officials of his faction.
In an exclusive interview with PREMIUM TIMES on Saturday, Mr. Baraje said all security personnel attached to him have been withdrawn by the government, thereby exposing him to danger.
PREMIUM TIMES had earlier reported that Mr. Baraje and the other leaders of his faction have been placed under security watch by authorities in an extensive effort to foil the group’s activities and ensure its members do not launch a parallel office.
“My life is now in danger, whatever happens to me now, people should know where it is coming from,” he said. “I’m now without security protection, and it is a move calculated to make me vulnerable to attacks.”
He also said the withdrawal of his security details was similar to how Rivers state Governor, Rotimi Amaechi’s life was endangered after the his security details were replaced without prior notice.
Mr. Baraje said the government had by its action put his life and those of his associates to great risk.
Mr. Baraje, a former acting national chairman of a united PDP, currently leads the PDP faction backed by seven state governors including Mr. Amaechi, and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

ReplyDeleteBut why were you giving personal securities before.Abi you want Nigerians to support you.banza kawai
ReplyDeleteWho are you that you should have security details attached to you? Other Nigerians working around is the govt. giving them such grant? Nigeria is where people of your type put it . Jonathan is from South-South that is why everyone of you is doing everything possible to mess his govt. up. Who told people like you that you are more important than other Nigerians who are moving around the country without security details? If you like on your own just run into an on-coming vehicle and if anything happens to you Nigerians will go and kill Mr. President. Obasanjo is a retired General and that was why fear could not allow people like you to mess him up when he was the president . Power belongs to God almighty and if He has willed it that Jonathan will have his second term there is absolutely nothing any of you can do about it .

ReplyDeleteBaraje, OBJ & Atiku who have been prime enemies united against GEJ, Bcos he came from minority tribe. Only God gives power, OBJ did not become president by his power while in Kirikiri prison. We Nigerians know that God, in his own ways brought him out and made him president using Babangida, Atiku, Abubakar, others. He was never part of the founders of PDP, Ekwueme who was the founder, 1st Chairman, 1st BOT of PDP was callously edged out by the federal might of Abubakar then head of state & his cohorts and sold the devil Advocate OBJ to Nigeria. He came and tried to destroy democracy, many times bribed and some times coaxed the national assembly to push his wicked policies and bills thru. Trace how the Militants of Niger Delta started, not far from PDP then under Baba. Remember the words of Asari on how militancy came about. With all the military attackj, killing of children and old ones in Odi and other niger delta region did not it stop militancy, with all the military and police force did never stop the boys. His efforts were total faillure, untill Yar'dua came in and granted them amnesty. Obj and Atiku ruled Nigeria and their administration brought about all sorts of evil to the country. Their type of ruling created room for all tribes to form militia, there was Arewa militant, OPC, Agbesu, Omatse, Bakassi, Mosop, including all type cults in the all higher institutions, secondary schools were not left out. They never respected rule of law, OBJ was above law and used judiciary to his advantage. Same to National assembly, anytime they refuse his proposal, he would resort to blackmail, calling them thieves. Imagine the same OBJ who was bribes them. When they say no he tagged them thieves. Any National Assbly house, a Senate president or speaker who refused his bidding would face impeachment threat before he realised it. Members of the house would be bribed to impeach him. If he survived impeachement, he would never be allowed to be re-elected examples were Ghali Naa'ba, Okadigbo, Ayim, Bankole, The same scenerio was playing in PDP, he was removing leadership of PDP at will, he would unilatreally amend the party constitution to suit his selfish interest, no matter what the approved procedure or the process says. It is like he is holding Nigerian in a spell that everyone has forgotten so soon and this man is back again to rain havoc once to Nigeria. He never meant well for Nigeria, if he has, why did he not fix Nigeria when he was the CinC or president three times? He wanted to make himself life president, by trying to fool Nigerians into accepting him for 3rd term. EFCC was formed to chase opposition and became the intrument he used to win second term, using intimidate silence political enemies. Many of them joining Baba against GEJ now suffered it then by EFCC under Ribadu. Many of them then would never come out to challenge OBJ, the next moment EFCC would be everywhere hunting for them. We should thank God for finally giving us a true Democrat in GEJ. We only have to pray God to help and extend GEJ stay in power. For the likes of atiku, obj, baraje, buhari etc who could not heal Nigeria, they do not want anyone to succeed who want to be used by God heal the country. Where they failed, they will do anything to ensure none succeeds.
