A member of the Kano Emirate Council and Waziri of Kano, Sheik Isa Waziri, is dead.
A statement signed by Alhaji Faruk Usman, a member of the royal family, said Waziri died on Friday evening at his Tudun Wazirci residence in the Kano metropolis.
Until his death, the deceased was the pioneer Imam of Murtala Muhammad Mosque in Kano.
He was later appointed the Chief Imam of Kano and later the Wazirin Kano by Alhaji Ado Bayero, the Emir of Kano.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that he also served as a Special Adviser to the Emir on Religious Matters, Sharia Court Judge, school teacher and a principal.
