One more celebrity is suffering from a life threatening disease, her name is Zara Gretti and she is in dire need of help.
Her real name Margaret Mary Oluwatoyin Ejiro Joseph, she was in early 2012 diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis after travelling to the US in November 2011.
Multiple Sclerosis is a nervous system disease that affects your brain and spinal cord. It damages the myelin sheath, the material that surrounds and protects your nerve cells. This damage slows down or blocks messages between your brain and your body.
Zara says she was surprised when she learnt she had been diagnosed with the disease. "My family had to travel me to the US for better hospitals to fully diagnose and understand what was wrong with me", she told NET via Skype in April.
Zara claims the symptoms began creeping in gradually, starting with muscle weakness and numbness. Right now, Zara is suffering from visual disturbances, trouble with coordination and balance, thinking and memory problems, double vision or blurring of vision, slurred speech, fatigue and dizziness.
The once very active dreadlocked singer has cut her natural braids and says she has been undergoing different treatments including mild chemotherapy in a hospital situated near her residence in Maryland, US.
Bills have been piling up and have to be paid; Zara who seems to be showing a commendable amount of courage has called upon fans and friends to help in raising funds to pay her hospital fees. Taking time to record a mini-video while receiving treatment in the hospital, she finally revealed to the world her current condition.
An online charity fund account has been opened with the target to raise $23,000. So far $12,094 has been raised. Her current manager says a GTBank account will also be opened for local transfers within the country.
"God is going to do a miracle for me. I’m going to have a huge testimony. Every day I tell him thank you. I am grateful", Zara says.
Zara according to her manager IK Tripz, will be returning to Nigeria sometime in September 2013. ‘The plan is for her to release her ‘Colours of my Heart’ EP. She will be returning in September too’, IK Tripz told NET over the phone. Zara also released a new song titled ‘Yeah’. The EP will be released under her label ILVIDONLA.
Zara burst into the Nigerian music scene in 2010, when she returned from Maryland, US to pursue a career in Nigeria. She was heavily affiliated with Alapomeji Records and managed by Toni Payne Management. She well known for her popular single ‘Aboko Ku‘.
