The Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar
Umar Garbai El-Kanemi, has urged the Boko Haram insurgents to
have respect for human life, saying, Islam forbids killing of the
innocent in whatever form.
The Shehu, in an interview with
journalists in Maiduguri during Sallah homage by residents, said people
ought to respect the sanctity of life.
“We need to respect our differences,
give support to those in authority and respect sanctity of life. We have
seen more deaths here, and this killing should be over,” he said.
The royal father, who spoke through the
Zanna Sabnoma (Chief Mobilizer of Events) of Borno Emirate, Dr Musa
Liman, appealed to the people to support the youth volunteers for their
patriotism, saying, “The palace and His Royal Highness are elated that
peace is gradually returning to Borno. And this Eid el fitri we are
celebrating is so special to our lives as a people coming out of a
painful yet, unfortunate situation.
“The youth volunteers should be
commended; they need everybody’s support and prayers. Imagine
these courageous and patriotic young men with sticks and cutlasses
chasing armed men with sophisticated weapons. Therefore, I urge our
people to give them support,” he said.
He also spoke on the need to embrace education, noting that education was the key to human development.
He urged the people to ensure that their children below the age of five available are enrolled into schools.

At least, Nigerians will now understand that Boko Haram are not Muslims but a group politically organized for their undisclosed reasons.
ReplyDeleteNigerians shouldn't be astonished because during the reign of Abacha, there were bombings all over the country thinking NADECO were responsible but after the death of Abacha before it was unveiled that Abacha and Almastapha were responsible therefore, it is not a new thing.
