N150m Loot: Army Panel Indicts Winners Chapel

Says Church gets N11m in two instalments

Popular pentecostal church with headquarters in Ota, Living Faith Church has been named as one of the beneficiaries of the N150 million over which Colonel Robert  Ahangba (N/9827) was convicted on Tuesday by an Army Court Martial for allegedly defrauding the government of Bayelsa State.

The Army officer was alleged to have used the name of the late National Security Adviser, General Andrew Owoye Azazi to swing the deal during the administration of former governor of Bayelsa, Timipre Sylva.

Speaking while delivering judgement on a four count charge prefered against the Colonel, President of the court martial, Brig.Gen. Edward Nze said that the officer donated N11 million to the church in two instalments of N9 million and N2 million.

He was sentenced to 7 years imprisonment.

Other beneficiaries of the Colonel's largesse were two messengers in the Bayelsa State Government House who were allegedly given N500,000 each, an Army officer who he gave N5 million for welfare and an unknown lady who met him in a bank where he allegedly directed that she should be given N8 million.

Giving more insight on how the money was disbursed, General Edward Nze said
"The sum of N25,000,000 was traced to Account number: 0000775163 in Union Bank. The sum of N30,790,000 was traced to Account Number: 0000730707 in Union Bank and N29,500,000 traced to Account number 0001800406 also in Union Bank. In First Bank, the sum of N48,055,654 was traced to Account Number 2011252278 and in First Bank Registrars the sum of N13.5 million was also traced".

  2. How does the chucrch now that the money was stolen when all they receive in offering box is a cheque? Winners chapel is so bless by God that the ministry do not need men to sponsor or offer questionable monies. Its unfortunate this man offered stolen money God will deal with him in Jesus name and For everyone accusing the ministry of in the name of media God will deal with you.

  5. The church should always question some donations, free will or not we make people to steal from their employers & promising then 100 folds of blessings. D higher you give ,the more the church recorgnise & give u post . The church should return this money . God does not say we should give more than we can afford. Knowingly or not the churches are the ones encouraging corruption & stealing.

  7. Journalists stop blaspheming God. Why didn't you use First bank which got the largest share? I'm not a member ofliving Faith but it is not fair to try to mudsling a church. It is called freewill offering in my church. Whether God accepts it or not, that is your private business.

  11. Are you people saying that God cannot bless someone to give offering or tithe worth more than that without fraud?
People who engages in genuine business and can give billion of Naira without looking back are so much around us,so how would church know that such donation was donated to bribe God as people may think to cover up after committing Advance free fraud .the punishment is on their neck, not on the church's neck.

  16. The country is in shambles, thus people create avenues to swindle people in the form of church, babalawo, false prophesy, advanced fee fraud (419) etc. You just have to create a niche for yourself where there is an irresponsible govt.
Churches these days are helping and encouraging people to perpetuate evil in order to get rich. That is why you are not regarded when you are not rich, even in the churches. GOD FORBID!
