Nigeria’s ruling Peoples Democratic Party has finally officially split into at least two factions.
A new faction, consisting of seven of the party’s 23 governors has announced that it has taken over the party.
At a press briefing in Abuja, Abubakar Kawu Baraje, a former acting National Chairman of the PDP, was announced as the leader of the new faction of the party.
The press briefing was attended by at least seven governors including those of Kano, Sokoto, Rivers, Jigawa, Kwara, Adamawa, and Niger.
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar was also at the press briefing. A former Osun State Governor and National Secretary of the PDP, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, was announced as the National Secretary of the new PDP faction.
The party leaders said they took the decision to salvage the PDP from those who have hijacked it.

Mr David Nna Amadi....democracy in Nigeria is becoming interesting & instutionalising.Could dis be d gradual manifestation of US prediction? A stich in time saves nine. A genuine & comprehensive reconciliatory move shd be. Initiation,Esp dat of chairman of NGF & Gov of Rivers state. God bless Nigeria.
ReplyDeleteThis is a welcome development let see what 2015 will look like, bcos the way am seeing things now it won't be easy come 2015...but God pass them
ReplyDeleteGreedy people. R all dis nonsense geared towards elevating poverty in Nigeria. How hav dey performed, me no get tym for dis rubbish
ReplyDeleteWhat ever they are doing is definitely not for the interest of Nigerians..
ReplyDeleteThis men will never leave their home running around for the interest of Nigerians,,, they are too greedy to do that... Now we have seen why Rotimi Ameachi is heating up Rivers state... Against the interest of his own zone...
Jona! I think it will be wise for u to leave Aso Villa in 2015 if U want this country to remain as one.
ReplyDeleteNo smoke without fire they say. This is the reason Amaechi decided to betray his own brother for a bowl of soup. These are all greedy men and they will fail. Atiku is a known failure so where ever he pitches his tents he is bound to fail so these seven Governors will drown with him. ASUU has been on strike for sometime now and the ruling Party is splitting for selfish interest I wish them luck. If this is the prediction of 2015, then let it come to pass Amaechi can quietly renounce his Southern Nationality and join the Northerners without carrying Rivers State along with him
ReplyDeleteGREEDY FOOLS
Johnson
Wow I never expect this would happen to PDP but I will say its a start
ReplyDeleteThank God that Poverty to D People has finally split. It is only a fool who would deny that PDP had been the problem of the poor masses of this country all these while. All they know is how to loot. A responsible party would have prevailed on their leaders to resolve the ASUU strike. But because we have a party driven by greed, the welfare of the citizens is nothing to GEJ. My only problem is that all PDP governors are 'dirty'. I mean ALL OF THEM. It is just a matter of time before GEJ asks SSS and EFCC to bring up their files, and all of them will be cowed to answer 'yes sir' to GEJ and Tukur once again, outside their will. In all these, I pity Akwa Ibom people because their money is going to used by AKpabio once again to reconcile the dissenting parties, as usual. Poor Akwa ibom people! We need accountability, the longer PDP stays together, the poorer the masses become; the more they loot in one voice, the more the countrry sinks in corruption; the longer they stay together, the worse for all of us the citizens of this country. My prayer is that God shouuld scattter the enemies of the masses of this country. We have so much, yet we go hungry daily. GOD MUST SCATTER ANY PARTY THAT IS TAKING OUR OWN GODGIVEN BREAD. GOD MUST TAKE CHARGE OF 2015 AND DEAL WITH ALL THE GREEDY POLITICIANS WHO ARE DISPOSSESSING US OF OUR COLLECTIVE WEALTH DAILY. Shame on PDP. I am from South South, but I've not seen ONE thing that GEJ or PDP has changed since GEJ became President. The Calabar-Aba road is a disaster, a death trap, and that is a federal road which cuts across 3 south south states and the only road to Calabar. What has GEJ or Pdp done for us? Nothing! I'm using solar charger to charge my devices. Light has grown worse. Why should these same guys govern us? To hell with PDP. We need them to split even more.
ReplyDeleteIt takes courage to stand against injustice and that is what this new fanction has shown. For those of you regional blind men that are blaming Roti Amaechi, I think you need to look beyond your noses. For a long time now we have played a regional based politics (and I dare say that its a lie sold to us by some selfish politicians) that has not taken us anywhere. If there are some rots in PDP and it takes the alliance of Rotimi Amaechi of south south and some northern governor to spot out and challenge, then so be it. We can't grow as a nation if we limit our and search for credible leadership to our tribal or regional alliances only. This is 2013 people not the 60s.
ReplyDeleteWhat makes the 6 northern govs break away? Is it not regional politics and self presevation. If you pretend not to know then better read their interviews. If you dont have what to say, .it is better to remain silent. All of them are the same. Have they ever condemned corruption in this country?. Or it now their interests are not protected that they are crying foul to deceive undecerning minds like you. Please nigerians this comment
DeleteFellow Nigerians, I see 1983 playing out and therefore, the American prediction coming to pass. The only solution now is a sovereign national conference. It's long overdue. That should be GEJ's last card to save Nigeria
ReplyDeleteThe Problem is not PDP only but d politicians. APC is not the answer cos most of them are former PDP too. REVOLUTION!!! Is near...
ReplyDeletelol...
ReplyDeleteWhat happened at the PDP convention was divinely scripted by God,as the FACTIONALISATION was accurately predicted at our Church's Prayer Vigil on the night of Friday/Saturday of 30th/31st August!A lady-Visionier,who was in spiritual trance('spiritual unconsciousness') Succintly predicted that the party holding an election on Saturday shall be visited with a major crises they never experienced and that the leadership shall be visited with multiple deaths soonest as God's token act of avenging the sufferings they are inflicting on the poor masses!
ReplyDeleteThe spirit of the Lord warned that except the political class retraced its steps from harsh economic policies that are affecting the poor,He shall cause their blood to be spilled in a bloodbath never witnessed in Africa! As a sampler,God threatened to take out one or two topmost fellows in the leadership into the land of the DEAD soonest,to let the rest know that He means business! The records of the predictions are in the Church on the Mountain in Kubwa-Abuja.Let those who have ears listen to what the Spirit of God is telling the political class!
Foolish person, why APC here? Are you afraid of APC? Go and hide your foolish sentiment. The stupid GEJ has since been there, he could not divide Nigeria, who are you, monkey. You shout revolution like it is fufu or mai mai. How many people from your are know their real father? Do you know the number of people that slept with your mother before you were born. Check the whole of Niger Delta, they constitute a larger number of people having children claiming their mother father's name. Why? Because an average visitor to their place have sex with them any how, there by getting many of them pregnant and abandoning them. And shameless mother happily gives their fathers' name to them to use in the school. Go and check very well. Too many bastard among you guys.
ReplyDeleteAt achulu ochete or machete(whatever d he'll ur name is),i can tell u are an ibo man.when people tell u the truth,u result to insulting people.Only a bastard will call someone a bastard.I am a Yoruba man and I have met a lot of wonderful ibos and south south people with better manners than u are showing on this forum. That kind of altitude is better exhibited among your fellow touts and thugs, pls stay away from this site with that kind of filthy hideous comments
