Igbo Youth Movement tackle Fani-Kayode on comments against Igbo

Igbo youths have accused a former Aviation Minister, Mr. Femi Fani-Kayode, of inciting the Yoruba against the Igbo.

The former minister’s recent article entitled, ‘The bitter truth about the Igbo’, the youth said, was “satanic and selfish.”

The youth, who spoke under the auspices of the Igbo Youth Movement, noted that Fani-Kayode via the article was only seeking political relevance in Yoruba land.

They spoke through the IYM President, Rev. Elliot Ukoh, in Enugu on Thursday.

Ukoh said, “The author of that article has a life-long burden. He has issues with the Yoruba people. His father, who was deputy to the late Samuel Ladoke Akintola, belonged to the tiny Yoruba click, which the late Ahmadu Bello’s Northern Peoples Congress used to destabilise Yoruba land and destroy Yoruba unity in the First Republic.

“The damage this group did to Yoruba psyche – imprisonment of the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo – is still reverberating till date and many have yet to forgive Chief Remi Fani-Kayode, father to Femi Fani-Kayode.”

Ukoh also said there was no quarrel between the Igbo and the Yoruba, noting, “the two tribes have been getting along for more than 100 years.”

Also, the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Wing said if Fani-Kayode failed to apologise for his utterances in the article within 10 days, its members would come against his wife and daughters.

  1. I am surprised this much why Femi's stinker to Igbo pains so much. You people are trying to remove the the speck in another man's eye while you left the log on your own eyes unattended to.
Your Brother Uzor Kalu said openly that Lagos is 'No man's land' and that the Igbo community built Lagos and contribute more than 52% to her economy. Is that the truth? Is Calabar the first Nigeria's capital territory has ever been claimed to be no man's land? Is Abuja no man's land what happened to the aborigines ?
I think this protest would have been complete if Kalu is called to retrieve his statements and apologized first for those insightful words. Lagos is to Yoruba as Onitsha is to the Igbo.Truth is bitter but must be said.Femi did say the truth this time so as to put records straight. Best regards.

    1. If Orji Uzor Kali called Lagos a No Man's Land in one of his statements, does it mean all the Ibos have spoken? When was he chosen to be the mouth piece of all Ibos. The context with which he made that statement was never reffered to while treating the matter. If someone says that the Ibos contributed enormously to making Lagos directly or indirectly what it is today, will that person said to be wrong. It is obvious that you Yoruba will not be open minded enough to invest and develop another man's land which explains why you hardly dwell in the East, today you accuse us of not being accommodating enough to other tribes. One obvious truth is that you people are bothered at the successes of the Ibos in your place not withstanding the fact that they were each given 20pounds each after the war with the intention of leaving the in permernent & abject poverty. They acquired so much wealth & property in Lagos that you can't help but develop a phobia for this group of people. One thing you must know is that we are die hard survivors and will still survive even if you guys succeed in stripping us of all we have made in Lagos. It is only normal for someone to feel uncomfortable with his superiors & not his sub ordinates, especially when someone you think doesn't' have legs suddenly runs faster than you. This issue has opened up a can of worms.... Let's keep watching ........Chris Abara.

  4. Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Wing said' its members would come against his wife and daughters'.This is a threat to his family life (FFK) you can see the way Ibgo origin talks without caution! Oby Ezekwesili can now ask the FG to restrain & arrest the group.

  5. I don't know why it pains the Yorubas to admit that the Igbo man plaayed a very vital role in the development of the city called Lagos, or any other city for that matter in Nigeria.
Please let us all forget about all these trivialities and think of a way to move this country forward, just know that each tribe has one or two things they are known for, both positive and negative and that it what makes a great nation, the diversity.
Let us strive to find this UNITY in the midst of our DIVERSITY. NO TRIBE IS SUPERIOR TO THE OTHER NO MATTER YOUR CONTRIBUTION TO THE ENTITY CALLED NIGERIA.

  6. They Igbos are feeling ashamed, guilty of a people without culture and no valid history.
To be candid I feel for them. They have been exposed. A society that wakes up in the morning greet their senior or their parent without respect. They shook hands with their fathers like a customer or friends all without regard.
Let me warn them, should they ignite any war again, the Igbos exterminated and the rest will be history. They should be told that the world is no longer a place of 100yrs ago. If Boko Haram can go up as far as to this extent, then you can imagine what the Yorubas can achieve with their hi-tech.

    1. Dreamer,You guys are known for noise making. When the wind of the battle comes,we shall know the courageous & the cowards. Prostrating to greet your elders has not made you the most respectful of all tribes. We all have lived with & amongst all tribes,we know specific attitudes attributed to all tribes individually. About d hi-tech you mentioned,I just got informed of it,but I do know that warriors don't boast about their weapons or technics before a fight. Keep your hi-tech in a safe place as we pray you never get an opportunity to use it. Note that man was created an imperfect being therefore we are all prone to errors and defects. Tolerance is what we all lack........ Chris Abara.

    2. You may also need to get close to a history class as you indicated in your write up that Ibos neither have a culture nor a history. The fact that you don't appreciate something doesn't mean it's inexistent. I hope you take your corrections & don't hate for yourfellow human make you lloose your mind.....Chris Abara

  11. This does not look like it will end well. A man with a sinking political career writes like he has always spoken (anyhow) and we all turn to planning how to deal with each other like this. This guy is inciting trouble, his wife and children are not in Nigeria,he himself may not even be in Nigeria, by the time "gbege" bursts now, we will kill ourselves and FFK, his family will still be alive, Orji Kalu too will be alive.
The two of them will apologize for their words which caused the wahala and even drink beer on top, while ordinary Nigerians would have died becos of it.
