At least eight members of the Abia state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party [PDP] have died in a fatal road accident that occurred in Enugu State.
The victims were returning from Anambra where they have gone to conduct ward congress for the party in that state.
The ward congress was done with the help of the deceased persons who had worked as auxiliary staff in preparation for the Anambra State governorship election slated for November.
The 18- seater bus which had 16 passengers on board was said to have skidded off the road and plunged into a ditch on its own, resulting in the accident that killed five of the passengers on the spot and three others later.
NE gathered in Umuahia that some of the victims were aides to the state party chairman, Senator Emma Nwaka.
The rest were staff members of the party secretariat while others were drawn from different wards in the state.
