In a bid to ease movement of commuters during the Muslims during the Eid-il-Fitri celebration, the Lagos State Government is offering residents free bus ride on 9th August 2013.
It will be recalled that for the past five years (2008) the state government has being offering the free bus service to assist commuters on any festival in the state.
The Managing Director of the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), Dr. Dayo Mobereola said “the service will afford Muslim faithful to have quick and easy access to different praying centres across the State.”
Mobereola explained “the service would run for 13 hours and would start at 7.00am and ends at 10.00pm, even as he warned road users against flouting the state road traffic law under the guise of the public holiday.”
“According to the General Manager, “The First BRT Cooperative, operator of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) will offer free services on Mile 12 – CMS, Mile 12 – Obalende, Ajah to National Stadium, Ajah – Obalende, Mile 12 – National Stadium, Mile 2 – National Stadium, Oshodi – Obalende and Oshodi – National Stadium routes.
“On the Bus Franchise Scheme (BFS) corridor, free services will be offered on the Ikotun – Ikeja – Maryland, Iyana Ipaja – Maryland, Ikotun – Iyana Ipaja, Igando – Iyana Ipaja, Igando – Ikeja, and Igando – Maryland routes.”
