Boko Haram: Analyst explains how JTF reached conclusion on Shekau

A security analyst, Captain Umar Ali (rtd.) says the timeline used by the Joint Task Force, JTF, in concluding that the Boko Haram Leader, Abubakar Shekau, was killed could be true.

Ali spoke in a Channels Television programme yesterday, adding that confirming the possibility of the sect leader's death still leaves "room for doubt" on the part of the people.

JTF in Borno State, Operation Restore Order, reported, Monday, that Abubakar Shekau might have died as a result of injuries sustained during a recent military onslaught on his group.
Though this was yet to be verified, Ali said the verification process was the possible explanation for the time lag before the information was released.

He further explained that information is passed through the "intelligence cycle" before it is released. Besides, he added, the JTF used "social indicators" to confirm their speculations.
Ali said: "After the Sambisa attack, we saw a kind of withdrawal. We saw the terrorists' attacks abating greatly. There was virtually a lull before Kano came up.
"And added to that, based on information and follow up I've done, in camps that were raided, things were discovered that gave the impression that these people left here in a hurry.

"A lot of things were abandoned. Those they couldn't go with, they burnt.

"So it's possible that the leader was injured and they had to abandon ship. And they crossed over to Amitchide and tried to patch him up but he did not survive."
Ali also said the Borno mosque attack could have been retaliation for the loss.

  1. This is really embarrassing! So a guy who's been responsible for such evil act can not still be confirmed dead? Are the security operatives trying to play a fast one on us or what? Are they trying to bury anything here? Have they in any way negotiated with this demon? If he is dead let's know he's dead....if he's not, keep haunting and stop adding pains to misery of the victims of Boko Haram.
