Police in Enugu arrests notorious kidnap, armed robbery kingpin

The combined operatives of the Anti kidnapping squad and special Anti Robbery Squad of the Enugu State Command of the Nigeria Police Force have nabbed a notorious armed robbery/ kidnap suspect who gave his name as one Stanley Smith Anukwu alias Ejima of Ndiagu Akpugo in Nkanu West Local Government Area of the state.
The suspect who has been terrorizing the entire area and also on the wanted list of the state police command for various offences ranging from kidnapping and murder of some persons was arrested by the operatives after a serious gun battle with the operatives on July 14, 2013, along Agbani axis of the state as he was seriously monitored and tracked down based on the information from members of the public.
He is now helping the police in their investigations just as he has been identified as a serious member of the dreaded robbery gang known as ‘Ngwu Ekeromu’.
In a related development, a man identified as Udeogor is now helping the police in their investigations over his alleged role leading to the matcheting of one Titus Okoye of Ogbaku in Awgu Local Government Area of the state which led to his death. It was gathered that the victim had gone to the farm on July 12th, 2013 and did not return. Following this, police started tracing him only to discover him in a pool of his blood. Further investigation showed that he was given severe matchet cuts on his head. The victim gave up the ghost on the way to the hospital.
Enugu State Police spokesman, Ebere Amarizu who confirmed the incident said investigation has commenced just as the body of the deceased has been deposited at the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, Ituku- Ozalla, Enugu mortuary for autopsy.
