Keshi blasts Oliseh

Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi is not taking it lightly with his critics, particularly, those with the opinion that he was depending too much on the home-based players.

The coach who took eight local stars to the recently concluded FIFA Confederations Cup descended on his former national team mate, Sunday Oliseh for attributing the team's poor outing in Brazil to Keshi's dependence on local stars.

"It is a shame that Sunday Oliseh could say a thing like that. He was a nobody when he came to the national team. He started from home too," Keshi said.

He called on the media to back his rebuilding project as he asked, "is it bad that we are trying to build a team with the inclusion of home-based players? Please, help me question the integrity of those who are opposed to this and Tell them what it's right."

He was not finished yet with Oliseh."When he came to the national team, I took him as a younger brother. I later (as an assistant coach to Amodu Shuabu) made him captain and he became a super star. Who knows what these boys could become in future?"

Keshi took five local players to the Nations Cup in South Africa. Godfrey Obaobona and Sunday Mba were outstanding and were rated more than many of the foreign-based players

  1. it is the desire of every Nigerian to see the NPL developed. Keshi is helping in his own little way to make this dream a reality. Critics should please allow him to do his job.

  2. We must learn to take constructive criticism and work with it. Oliseh did not kick against local players but over dependence on them. A situation where we say we are grooming local players and field people who are afraid to take shots at goal is not welcome. Train them but use the best materials for international engagements. When the present crop of players get exposed and take up international jobs, will you now drop them and start with another bunch of locals?
I believe in Keshi but he should not be angry over criticism. I believe he himself sits down, watch and criticise his methods and his team so as to get better.

  3. And who is the home we are overdependent on? Nobody has been able to tell me one.just because gambo missed one scoring chance against spain? What about 'the foreign prof star' ideye and musa? In the same spain striker, soldado on two occassions one on one with enyeama he could not score, does that also make a him a bad player? If Ujah, akpala, and ideye could not score a single in 3 matches is nw wrong for the coach to allow the current leading goal scorer in 9ja league to play for less than 20 mins? Ws is that nigerian expected SE to win confed cup? Ws is not same 9ja pple shouting WC is d focus b4 confed cup?if keshi does expose ds guys here wea wil do that WC qualifier? Haba 9ja sport fans na wa 4 una o... Odun Tutu

  4. yes, keshi should learn to accept critism. That would only make him get better. Local players should be introduce base on the profile of the opposition.

  5. 4 crying out loud, what is becoming of Keshi, what on earth is wrong with someone observing a mishap & suggesting d way forward, i think d couch is loosing something beyond humility & listening ear dat gave him little edge over Siasa,in terms of service delivery, we all need 2 learn from our past & thread well by noting d view points of detractors, 2 thirve well.
Oliseh did not kick against local players, he only expressed a personal opinion which can b useful or useless,it is only those who don't believe in themselves that consider distractions as an excuse, Ferguson had enof & even 2 spare yet listens 2 Mourinho, Wenger, Hyenkes & d likes during crucial matches.
whatever we do it is very needful 2 appreciate ppl 4 whom they r, & not only stick close to thsoe singing our praises.....

  6. Keshi should accept criticism that will aid him to make a better decision and a good team manager.
On th other hand I still believe that Keshi is lagging in some aspects.
I keep saying this, Nigeria has one of the highest number of players in the world. But the problem is that these guys do not have good brush up. Their skills need to be enhanced, They don't need to play in international club sides to be this good. All the need is adequate training and exposure. they need to be engaged in serious competitive competitions and trainings.
The NPL is not even making matters worst cos they do not know their left from their right. They board member are just there to embezzle money, having nothing positive to contribute.
I sent a proposal about under 20 flying eagles before they went for the past African youth championship, but it didn't see the light of the day. And is clear that everyone can see failure following them in every competition. They find it hard to get sponsorship from multinationals cos they do not believe
    in them.

Keshi should beg Osaze who rubbished Nigeria authority, not only Keshi he rubbished.

Without him,Nations Cup was won........It is Osaze that needs to apologise. He is displaying the same ruddy attitude in his club, what are u then talking about?Manner, zero and he lackes many of it.
