72 feet crucifix to be unveiled in Enugu



A 72 feet crucifix, named the Giant Agonising Crucifix, and acclaimed to be one of the tallest in the world, is to be unveiled in Enugu on Friday where 10,000 Catholic faithful are expected, according to a statement.

The statement issued in Abuja from the Apostolate of the Most Precious Blood of Jesus Christ, and signed by Mr Jude Edochie on Tuesday, stated that the crucifix had been erected at Uje, Imeziolo in Enugu Local Government Area.It explained thet the erection was the culmination of a vision through a priest, Barnabas Nwoye.

“Over 10,000 people are expected at the ceremony – Bishops, Priests, the Religious and the Laity from countries including Canada, USA, Britain, Spain, Mexico, Venezuela, Brazil, Australia, China and Germany.“The unveiling of this crucifix, a world Catholic religious event, will be preceded by a Holy Mass and a big religious ceremony,’’ the statement stated.The statement called on people to come and witness the “historic religious event of our time.“With this project accomplished, the power of the kingdom of darkness shall be seriously shaken for the Kingdom of God shall be established throughout the world’’.
