The Board of Trustees of the Peoples
Democratic Party has admitted that the Sokoto State Governor, Alhaji
Aliyu Wamakko, was suspended in error.
Secretary of the BoT, Senator Walid Jubril, admitted this in an interview he granted the Hausa Service of the British Broadcasting Corporation, monitored in Abuja, on Thursday.
He also denied reports that the fate of
the party’s National Chairman, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, was discussed
during the BoT meeting on Wednesday.
Jibrin said, “The suspension of (Aliyu) Wamakko was a mistake and we have rectified it. What is wrong with that?”
He also gave an insight into what was discussed ahead of today’s (Thursday) National Executive Council meeting.
“Our party has a constitution, which says we should have a mid-term convention every two years.
He added, “We looked at how we will hold a successful convention; we also discussed the cases we have in court.”
The BoT scribe also used the occasion to
challenge those calling for the ouster of the PDP chairman, to present a
convincing reason for such a call.
He said, “If people are asking him to leave, what is their reason? If they bring a reason, we will look at it.”
