Two alleged perpetrators of "one chance'' syndrome on Thursday appeared before an Apapa Chief Magistrates' Court in Lagos on a two-count charge.
Samuel Babatunde, 34, and Muda Oladeji, 27, were accused of specialising in dispossessing commuters of their valuables while posing as commercial motorists.
They are standing trial for assault on Mrs Helen Ede.
The Prosecutor, Insp Soji Ojaokomo, submitted that the accused pushed Ede out of a moving vehicle on May 2 at about 12:20p.m., at Alao Bus Stop on the Ojo Road, Ajegunle, Lagos.
Ojaokomo said that the duo posed as unregistered commercial motorists (Kabukabu), picked Ede at the bus stop, dispossessed her of some valuables and pushed her out, shortly after the vehicle took off.
According to him, some witnesses pursued, apprehended and handed over the accused to the police.
He said that Ede was still receiving treatment in a hospital for the injury she sustained on her left hand and legs.
Ojaokomo said the offences contravened Sections 171 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
Section 171 provides for three years imprisonment for assault, while Section 409 prescribes two years imprisonment for conspiracy.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Oluyemisi Adelaja, granted them bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety each.
She ordered that the sureties should show evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
Adelaja adjourned the case till June 10 for mention. (NAN)
