A pastor, Fidelis Ajoke, has been arraigned before an Oredo Magistrate’s Court in Benin, the Edo State capital, for allegedly raping and eloping with a 13-year-old daughter of the General Overseer of his church.
The Junior Secondary School (JSS 3) pupil told the court that the accused started sleeping with her in November, last year.
In January, this year, she said, the pastor asked her to steal her mother’s money and give him for the treatment of his indisposed mother and she obliged.
The victim told the court that she eloped with Ajoke to Ubiaruku, Delta State to avert the wrath of her mother over her stolen N170, 000.
The teenager said the accused used part of the money to rent a house in Ubiaruku, where both of them stayed before he took her to Lagos and Port-Harcourt.
She said her trip round major cities in Nigeria was cut short when a friend called her with her new mobile number while in Ubiaruku, that her photograph was shown on the television as a missing person in Edo State. The call prompted her to return to Benin, which paved the way for the pastor’s arrest. Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday
