Former Nigerian Head of State, Muhammadu Buhari, who is also a major figure in the newly formed All Progressive Congress, has accused former governors of Niger Delta states of breeding militants for political reasons. Mr. Buhari made the statement in a radio program monitored by SaharaReporters.
Mr. Buhari said the governors had armed militants for political
purposes, but failed to retrieve the arms, adding that the weapons
enabled the militants to start kidnapping expatriates in the Niger
Delta.
Mr. Buhari said: “All Nigerians that are following events know this reality. The Niger Delta militants started it. The reality of what occurred was that, some governors wanted to win their elections and they were facing serious challenges of return. They employed these boys and armed them to fight their opponents.
After their forceful victory, they could not retrieve the weapons and they stopped paying the boys for not obeying them [by returning the weapons]. The irate youths then started kidnapping and it become the order of the day. They were kidnapping oil expatriates and collecting dollars as ransom. A boy of 18 to 20 was getting almost 500 dollars in seven days, what will stop him doing it? And why will he go to school to spend 20 years and then come back to work for peanuts? That is if he will among the lucky ones that will get a job.”
On the Boko Haram sect, the former military dictator asked, “How did the sect start? We know that their head, Muhammed Yusuf, was posing as a threat and police could not clamp down on the sect and soldiers were involved. Muhammed Yusuf was captured alive by soldiers [and handed over] to the police. The right thing was to investigate and charge him to court. Instead they killed him and his in-law, and they went and destroyed their houses. Because of this, the remaining followers regrouped and are doing what they are doing.”
Some of Mr. Buhari’s political opponents have accused him of being sympathetic to Boko Haram’s terror activities.

Even if the southern governors created the millitants the millitants were never as bad and dangerous as the Boko haram you created and sponsored.

And Buhari is not in support of boko haram and will never support any terrorist. But he is telling the government what to do to stop terrorist activities in Nigeria recall of 2009 when the government came down on boko haram sect kill there leader. That time boko haram did not start bombing or killing civilians. That is what Buhari is telling d government when they cut d leader of boko haram they supposed to question him and let him tell Nigeria why he created boko haram. But they dont instead they kill him. And of till now me and you nobody no why they create boko haram. And u people are saying Buhari is sponsored boko haram can u provide any account in this world is for Buhari. Because if Buhari is sponsored boko haram U S A will no about it and American will act on Buhari account. But no and u dont have fact on Buhari. And I want u people to remember 1983 when Buhari was head of state at that time Jerry Rollin was Ghana head of state and he kill all the corrupt leaders in Ghana. But Buhari gave our grant fathers only 20 years in prison so if he is bad person he could have kill them at that time. Instead he gave them 20 years in prison. Is that man now a bad person and I want u people to travel to Buhari house in Kaduna or his home town in daura katsina state. Them u will no if he is sponsored boko haram or not. And u will see for your self weather u can compared hi house with that off IBB, OBASANJO,ABDULSALAM, AND EVEN GOODLOCK.

ReplyDeleteLet us get our act straight, the fact that Buhari made this sincere and truthful comments, Nigerians are calling for his head. But Buhari has not said anything that is untrue here. It is on record that Peter Odili and Asari Dokubo were Boss and Boy, before they fell out.
ReplyDeleteBoko Naram issue has nothing to do with Buhari, go and ask IBB whose son's $1.4B yearly Security contract was cancelled by this Administration. They are the ones who have questions to answer. It is no hidden secret that IBB has and operate an Organization with Hezbollah from its Iran supply Base.
