Man stabs step-son to death



A 26-year-old man, Godfery Osinikpo, has allegedly lost his life for interfering in the marital affairs of his step-father.


Osinikpo, a native of Illah, Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State, died after he was allegedly stabbed in the chest by his 45-year-old step-father simply identified as Onyeka, after a disagreement over family issues.

The victim’s mother who allegedly got married to the suspect after her first marriage that produced Osinikpo crashed, was said to have moved into her new matrimonial home with Osinikpo and had been living there, but to the distaste of her new husband.

According to sources, Onyeka and his step-son had never been in good terms, although he did not send the victim packing.

On the fateful day, a heated argument allegedly ensued between Onyeka and his wife, following which Osinikpo took sides with his mother.

Although the cause of the argument could not be ascertained, Onyeka was said to have accused the late Osinikpo of meddling in the disagreement between husband and wife, following which he became infuriated and asked Osinkpo to leave the house, an order that was allegedly rebuffed.

In anger, Onyeka was said to have reached for a dagger in his room with which he stabbed the his step-son on the chest and he died on the spot.
According to the Delta State Police Command Public Relations Officer, ASP Lucky Uyabeme, the suspect is on the run but the police would soon track him down.

He said the corpse of the victim has been deposited at Ebu General Hospital for autopsy.
