CAN President, Oritsejafor is working for Jonathan's 2015 agenda -Buhari

Nigeria's former Head of State, Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has accused the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, of working for the re-election bid of President Goodluck Jonathan.

Buhari said with many statements credited to the pastor concerning him (Buhari), it was evident that he was desperate to help the electoral fortunes of the President.
The former head of state, in a statement on Sunday, said this while responding to the call for his arrest by the CAN President.

The CAN president had said in a statement last week that Buhari was a prime leader of the Boko Haram sect, and should therefore be arrested for questioning.
Oritsejafor had said, "He (Buhari) is, therefore, the prime leader of this religious and blood thirsty sect called Boko Haram, a movement that is based on a warped interpretation of a strict adherence to force people of other religions into Islam.
"This kind of fundamentalism is the driving force behind his failure in each election in the country."

But Buhari, in a statement by the National Publicity Secretary of the Congress for Progressive Change, Rotimi Fashakin, described Oritsejafor's statement as lacking in facts.

He said, "It is our view that this statement is utterly tendentious and unsupportable by incontrovertible facts.
"We are aware that as it was before and after the 2011 elections, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor is keen on helping the electoral fortunes of his friend, President Goodluck Jonathan."

While enumerating Buhari's stand on Boko Haram, whose activities he said had been condemned by the former head of state, Fashakin also described the CAN's president's call as reckless.

He said, "We leave discerning Nigerians to judge and see the incongruity in Pastor Oritsejafor's reckless call and GMB's unwavering patriotic stand on Nigeria's insecurity.

"Again, Pastor Oritsejafor has proven to be a willing implement for destabilisation in the hands of the Presidency, in the orchestrated heckling of GMB ahead of the 2015 elections.

"The moral rectitude, personal discipline and patriotic love for Nigeria by GMB is head and shoulder above what the current leaders of the nation possess.
"GMB is not in the mould of leaders that do not match their words with deeds. In the run to the 2011 election, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan told an unsuspecting nation, "My ambition is not worth the blood of anybody. But truly, his electioneering campaign was trailed by blood, tears and woes."

  1. It is Obvious Buhari needs Moral lesson,A man that has never Condemn the evil act of Boko Haram in anytime, yet is expecting the support of Nigerians. What does he expect the leader of an association that is the prime target of Boko Haram to say ??? From his reckless statement ???

I know APC members are not too fulish to give a man like this their ticket. But having him as a member alone is their downfall.

  3. Buhari should go and cure himself of this disease of 'mouth diarrhoea.' A man who cannot control his tongue is not fit to rule a nation.

  4. it will be over by 2015 for GEJ and his CAN agenda. it is a pity and shame to pastor AYO to have lead some unpatriotic people under the banner of CAN to heat up the polity. We (Buhari xtain supporters) knows that he is only defending his jet plane and not talking on our behalf. Come to think of it if Buhari is a boko haram, is it not for CAN to go through the inter-religious body to demand for anything. If not the closeness that exist between him and presidency will CAN single-handedly demand for something like this? What of if our muslim counterpart does the same, will the resultant atmosphere contain AYO himself? I believe we all need peace and development and anybody against Buhari must be for the opposite and must be gaining from the ongoing corruption.

  7. This Ayo man is a bigot who has never ever hidden his hatred for Islam and Muslims. Buhari, on the other hand, has understood and worked with christians while in the army, in PTF and now as a politician.

  8. I'm not against anybody nor to support anyone here, but to bare my minds on what I thnk a good leader should do in times like dis. Boko Haram hav committed so much mayhem in dis country, targettin Xtians n innocent Southerners. What Buhari, as a man who has d interest to be president should hav done was not to keep a deaf ears. He was supposed to be very active in condemnin their acts n fightin on how their insurgency would be brot to an end, but none of dis did he do. So how den can he clear Nigerians dat dis sect did not emanate from d statement credited to him "dat d country wil be made ungovernable for GEJ" My candid advice to is for him to just relax n forget 2015, cuz it wil too bad for d Xtian if an extremist like him should be president of dis country.

  9. I am not suprised about Buhari's blasphemty against our CAN president. If he can indirectly support terrorist in the name of politics and islam, an act i consider as blsphemy against prophet Mohanned(SAW) and Islam,(prphet Mohammed never taught violence and shedding of blood UNJUSTLY) he will do it for anybody. If you respect your prophet and the sultan, you won't speak such concering the CAN president. The revered pastor has openly spoken against some policies of GEJ. he did not work for political fortune of GEJ in those instances but now because he condemned the inactions and unscupulous utterances of a retired general who has lead this country, who is still aspiring to rule, i mean Buhari, he is wqorking for GEJ. Can you see man? Buhari cannever rule this country again. If APC make the mistake of making him their presidential candidate, then, i assure them, defeat is waiting for them at 2015 election.
