An Operations Manager with a first generation bank in Agbor, Delta State has been arrested by the police for allegedly conniving with an armed robbery gang that raided the bank, weekend.
The gang had in a commando style operation, succeeded in carting away millions of naira in both local and foreign currencies on Friday, while some bank customers and passers-by were wounded in the process.
Delta State Police command's spokesman, Mr. Lucky Uyabeme, said that "the arrested Operations Manager of the bank is helping the police in its investigation. The command will not leave any stone unturned in ensuring that all the hoodlums involved are brought to book.
"Preliminary investigation revealed an insider connection in the bank robbery as the two keys to the strong room that were supposed to be kept by two different senior staff were left with the Operations Manager, who in turn left the strong room open.
"The four bullet proof doors were not tampered with. One of the senior staff of the bank who was supposed to be with one of the keys to the strong room purported to be sick, handed over the keys to the Operations Manager," Uyabeme said. Aaahhh! this is a very clear-cut conspiracy and the Police has very little work to do before arraigning those involved.
ReplyDeleteNa WA o!
ReplyDeleteIt's not suprising, most of robbery incidence, an insider is involved.
ReplyDeleteWhy is he leaking this information and compromising investigation. Do they train these policemen at all?
ReplyDeleteIts unfortumate!
ReplyDeleteThis is serious....I wish the casulaties quick recovery.
ReplyDeleteThe police is crazy.where were the police when the robbers were shooting for about 40 minutes.now I know how the police get their cheap popularity.that a staff was I'll does not mean conspiracy.when the bullets were flying into the bank for about 15 minutes, what do you expect the manager to do?to wait until they were all murdered?shame on you Nigerian police for labelling that young man a rubber.God will vindicate him!
ReplyDeletefoolish police men. they wont come out and fight the robbers head-to-head even if the robbers choose to spend 4hours in the bank. rubbish report. how can they just labbel the operation manager as conspirator simple because he opened the vault. on a normal ground, when a gun is place on your head in exchange for money kept under your watch what would u have done? is the money important than your life? the police should be investigaed instead.
ReplyDeleteThis is a total control failure .The upper and lower keys are not handled by same person in any case .They must be two persons each set aside to hold each keys in case of one person being absent from work .To me it was a planned deal by the Bank operation manager .My advise to Banks is not to allow their control to be weak or to be compromised. Big lessons to be learn not only Bankers but to everybody .Mores So to our HR depts, this is recruitment error .
ReplyDeleteCome out and fight with what? they dnt have two lives, have you seen the kind of sophisticated weapons this guys operate with? Pls if you have somebody in your family in the police will you want them to die a senseless death.... this is not abroad where if a cop dies in line of duty the family will be taken care of. Get real.......
