Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere, has called on the Federal Government to urgently intervene in the deplorable condition of Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and gridlock on the road, which it said had worsened in the last three days.
The group, in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Yinka Odumakin, alleged that the state of the road has led to countless road carnage over the years.
It said the condition has been particularly depressing in the last three days, during which motorists spend about five hours on journeys that should not take them more than 55 minutes.
It said: "Motorist spend an average of six hours on a journey that should not take more than 55 minutes on the road.
"The physical strain of this anomaly is unquantifiable. We have had promises of work commencing on that road in recent times, but we are yet to see action.
"The state of that road is unacceptable and we want to see commencement of real reconstruction and not patchwork without further delay." Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday

I just returned from a journey through the same route, the question has always be..do we have government at all? The agency of government and parastatal are in position to raise the alam about this road issue,at time between redemption camp and prayer city you can spend close to 5 hours..instead of doing the road, they are busy preparing for 2015.God will expose them.
