Super Eagles striker, Ike Uche, on Tuesday donated drugs and children clothing to the Police Mobile Force Squadron 55 (PMF 55) maternity/clinic at Osisioma, near Aba, Abia,
The drugs include Zeramal-QS, Nkoyo Glucose tablets, Anolox Ampicillin capsules, paracetamol tablets and gold circle latex condoms.
Handing over the drugs to the Commanding Officer of the base, Mr Wilson Dankwano, on Tuesday, an elder sister of the footballer, Mrs Okwuchi Gerry-Anyaogu, said her brother learnt about the clinic and the need for assistance.
She said the drugs should be used to treat patients free.
Geryy- Anyaogu, said Uche would have loved to make the presentation personally “but for the call of duty.”
According to her, it is the hope of the footballer that the drugs will go a long way in meeting the medical needs of the clinic.
Responding, Dankwano said the donation would attract more patients to the clinic, which was being patronised by members of the squadron and their families, as well as the general public.
He said the drugs would be administered to patients at the clinic free as a way of helping to solve the health needs of people in the base and the adjoining communities.
Dankwano commended the footballer for his sense of patriotism, and urged other wealthy individuals in the society to emulate his good gesture.
Drugs and other special gift items were also presented to children born at the clinic by Dankwano, assisted by Uche’s sister. (NAN)
