Sharia Court judge, registrar lose jobs for gross misconduct.

The Kano Judicial Service Commission (JSC) on Thursday terminated the appointment of a Shari’a Court judge and registrar for alleged gross misconduct.

The Public Relations Officer (PRO), Kano High Court, Mr Jibo Ibrahim, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kano.
He, however, declined to mention their names.
He said that the affected officials were working with No. 1, City Shari’a Court located in Kano metropolis.
Ibrahim said that the affected officials were found guilty of tampering with the inheritance of a deceased person.

He said that the JSC took the step following series of complaints from members of the family.
“Following the complaints, the State Chief Judge, Justice Shehu Atiku, set up an investigative committee on the matter.
’The investigation indicted the registrar and recommended that his appointment be terminated.
`Another committee was also constituted which investigated the judge and also found him guilty of the same offence.

’The committee submitted its report on April 29 and recommended the termination of the appointment of the judge,” he said.
The PRO said that the affected officials had since been served with their letters of termination of appointment.
According to him, the chief judge has warned judges and other judicial officers against acts capable of tarnishing the image of the judiciary.
’Following the incident, the state chief judge reiterated the warning to the judges.

`He warned that anyone caught to be involved in act capable of denting the image of the judiciary would not be spared,’’ he added.
